A well-kwnon scientist (some say it was Bertrand Russell) once gave a public lecture on astronomy. He described how the earth orbits around the sun and how the sun, in turn, orbits around the center of a vast collection of stars called our galaxy. At the end of the lecture, a little old lady at the back of the room got up and said: “What you have told us is rubbish. The world is really a flat plate supported on the back of a giant tortoise.” The scientist gave a superior smile before replying, “What is the tortoise standing on?” “You’re very clever, young man, very clever,” said the old lady. “But it’s turtles all the way down!”

Bass, who was the Canadian guy who kept going after Lance and turned out to be right? I can’t remember his name.

    • BassFace says:

Not sure of any Canadian (I’ll have to look that up), but I know two Irish journalists – Paul Kimmage & David Walsh – went after Lance, got their names slung thru the dirt, and in Paul’s case was even sued by the UCI, only to be proven right about L.A.

  2. Haruko Haruhara says:

    Bass. DICK POUND!

    Am I right?

    • BassFace says:

Yes – he’s the former head of WADA (World Anti-Doping Association).

      • BassFace says:

Lance unsuccessfully tried to have Pound removed from the IOC (International Olympic Committee) for accusations that riders were using EPO during the 2004 TdF and that evidence existed that it could’ve been used as early as 1999, when Lance “won” his first yellow-jersey. Pound didn’t specifically named Lance in his report, but Lance took it very personal and he (with collusion from the UCI thru their Dutch lawyer Emile Vrijman, himself later known as a defense-attorney for doping riders such as Michael Rasmussen) tried to have Pound dismissed from both WADA and IOC.

  3. Bad news. Son can’t keep Rocky. I don’t want to talk about it right now. Just wanted to let you guys know. TTYS.

  4. BassFace says:

Definitely time for change in the UCI… especially given that two riders (Danilo di Luca and Mauro Santambrogio) were just recently caught using EPO at this year’s Giro d’Italia – and both have histories of doping and have been previously suspended for such – and both on the same team.

A-Roid is No. 2 at HP right now.

  7. CobaltBlueDawg says:

MsB, sorry about Rocky’s situation. Good luck to you both.

  8. Haruko Haruhara says:

Cobalt, you can relate to this.

Pepe dreamed his hip was in pain and he woke up. His hip pain woke him up.

    OA is a bitch.

    • CobaltBlueDawg says:

I can. At this point with my condition I don’t know what is OA and what’s PMR. But, I know the pain and the inability to get comfortable. Tell him I’m with him.

      • Haruko Haruhara says:

You know he sleeps with six or seven pillows? He has to put a bunch of pillows under a leg to lessen the pain.

  9. CobaltBlueDawg says:

The Marc Maron show is my favorite new thing. He’s a funny mofo, but he’s got a good heart. The opossum in the crawl space episode displays him at his best. Funny and thoughtful.

    See you soon. Sweet Dreams

    Tire

Man did not create the wheel
    Nevertheless
    It’s been told that now
    Down through the ages
    But that wasn’t man,
    T’was was lesser man
    The domesticated man
    Who watched over the herds
    Cared for the crops
    And spoke to the trees

    That man, deformed man
Enchanted by shadows on the wall
    That man, who hid
Was the man who made the wheel
    Down in his cave
    Down further still
    As the Golden Age
    Came to a close
    He labored for a means
So that man would never hunt him

The tire treads, the bleach on the back wheels
    Locking them breaks and turning
    Racing, Colliding
    Under spinning lugs
    The hunted down
    Chased, pursued
    The missing link forever lost
    Back in another age
    Where paintings on the wall
Are the only thing of them remaining

    Hello, Realm.
I have been obsessed with working on my family tree,
but when I got to “Gerberga Von Kinziggau of Swabia, b. 982,” I decided to call it a night.

Hope you are all doing well.

    Hello to All!

  19. Ricki Lee says:

My little lizard pal says hello, too. He’s sitting on the window sill. He’s so cute!

    • Ricki Lee says:

Hey, Neb! Good article and thanks for posting. It fascinates me that they are able to make these correlations. Also, I didn’t realize so many people were killed – horrible tragedy. 😦

      • nebdem says:

I think it was a smart move to study the acoustic, if animals are created with that ability, as it seems because the know when to flee an area, then we should try to pick up that sound also.
