“He who cannot change the very fabric of his thought will never be able to change reality, and will never, therefore, make any progress.”—Anwar Sadat
Don’t forget- they were the first hoomans to post kittehs on their walls!
Hee, good un.
I can envision how sand cats turned into Siamese and Persians and Maine Coons, but I will always be mystified at how wolves turned into chihuahuas and corgis and Italian greyhounds … in like 100,000 years.
Here is a neat article: http://www.nytimes.com/2006/01/06/science/06cats.html?_r=0
Well, dogs can have multiple litters even in their relatively short lifespans. Frequent births lead to frequent mutations. Then, add in selective breeding, and that’s what you get. Surprisingly, Chihuahuas are not related to other dogs. I forget where I read that, but it was recently.
That is some fast evolution.
Did chihuahuas come from foxes or something?
I mis-typed that! They are definitely dogs. What they are not is a recently developed breed. They were here at the time of the Aztecs, Mayans, etc. They got here long before European dogs.
Did you know that cats can conceive multiple times and carry them at the same time?
Sand cats are just cool! There’s your Egyptian kitty cat. http://www.agirlsworld.com/amy/fun-facts/pix/sandcat.jpg
Hmmm, they might’ve been African wildcats, too. http://africanwildcat.org/AfricanWildCat_sitting_crop.jpg
I think this is correct. Info came out several years ago. My memory isn’t as good as it used to be, but there’s always teh google. 😀
Akhenaten may also be the author of the 104th Psalm. http://meafar.blogspot.com/2010/09/psalm-104-and-akhenatens-hymn-to-sun.html
There was one fuck of a lot of plagiarism on the part of Christianity!
Ha! I know.
wha..what!… Blashemy! All good xristians know it is -ALL- the direct word-of-GOD penned by his-self and handed directly to MR. Charlton Heston his-self on the mountain-top as reveled by scripture and confirmed by our own eyes on the silver-screen!
There have been books written on the parallels between Jesus and Horus.
(To say this is controversial is putting it mildly.)
Joseph Campbell does a wonderful job of showing the similarities of the creation stories, etc in all of the ancient religions.
I will check that out.
Now, these cats I find absolutely fascinating! (and cute!) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pallas%27s_cat
Neb,, I was curious. Do you get points for receptions in your league?
Sorry to be off topic.
Yes, for each catch it is 2 points, if a WR gets 8 catches there is a bonus of 10 points. For a TE if they get 6 catches in a game they get the 10 point bonus. The yardage bonus is also different between the WR and the TE, over the years we tweaked the scoring to increase the importance of the TE.
What about a RB? Someone like Sproles or Shane Varreen would be more valuable???
The RB gets 2 points per reception and a bonus at 8 instead of the 6 for the TE. Running backs who catch a lot of passes are the highest scoring backs in our league. Sproles is the ideal flex-player. Jamal Charles and Doug Martin scored a lot of points last year.
Doug Martin is going very high in “experts” drafts.
I’ve noticed that. I’m not sold on him yet, but his ability to catch the ball, I think he had 70 last year makes him a player that cannot be overlooked.
My favourite are snow leopards. http://www.wallpaper77.com/upload/DesktopWallpapers/cache/Snow-Leopard-leopards-1600×900.jpg
They are rare.
(I remember them pointing that out on “Planet Earth.”)
My favourite part of Planet Earth was the snow leopard running straight down a cliff to catch some prey, that was amazing.
Oh…. I do remember that. Incredible.
One of my faves, too. They are so beautiful.
They are amazing!
They barely look like cats!
I watched a couple of episodes of the Netflix series “Lilyhammer” tonight. It isn’t that bad, it has good humor.
Have you watched “House of Cards?”
I have watched most of it. I have like 4 episodes left to watch. I really like it. Spacey is wonderful, the cast is great and the way they have written it is wonderful, I know it is a port from a British series, I plan to watch that sometime in the future to see the similarities
I am fading, guys.
I love the theme tonight.
Great suggestion, RL.
Take care, all.
Goodnight, tg. Sweet dreams. xoxoxo
and thanks ….. glad Jack was listening!
Good morning, Fi! Are you off today?
Yeah, back at work Wednesday.
Good, thanks. What’s going on with your avi?
I have changed it now, he’s a Shark!
D’oh! Great ava!!!! 😀
Q’Plah my friend.
What big plans are In store for you today? I hope your allergies aren’t bothering you.
I’m ok today thanks, just some domestic chores today, nothing exciting.
Those sometimes are the best days.
I have the sneaking suspicion that as long as this theme is up, sooner or later Jack is going to ask all of Us to build him a Pyramid.
Or devise a Pyramid scheme?
With him being at the top no doubt.
Of course! But if he’s toppled, he’s the one who will be toast!
I hope the pun was intended about the toast reference 🙂
If he is toppled then it is going to be a rough time for all of us because he won’t take defeat easily. He might even try to ban all of us if he falls off the top?
Yes! 🙂 Talk about heavy metal!
Darn! i thought that he would appear!
He is probably working late on a project.
Like a fairy on top of the Christmas tree!
Yes, a fairy – definitely not an angel! 🙂
Pyramid scheme? Oh you mean a typical merican-style capitalist “venture” goldman-sachs “investment” perhaps….
Where did Ms. Honey B disappear to?
I don’t know, but it was great to see her here.
Indeed, it was! I seem to miss her most of the time these days. 😦 What have you been up to?
I’ve been spending time over the weekend with my Sister and her husband, that was fun. I finished reading The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, I found a book with all of the stories he wrote in it, so I plan on moving forward with that, but something else may grab my attention. I haven’t written anything new of the sci-fi story I’m working on. I plan to pick that up tomorrow and work it through the week. Watched a few movies, I saw Taken 2, it doesn’t compare to the first one, kinda lame. I watched the silent version of Ben Hur, that was amazing!
A silent version of Ben Hur ?! I didn’t even know there was one! Where did you see it? Glad to hear you’ll be working on the sci fi story – that sounds right up your street, Neb. I expect you will have a lot of fun tapping your imagination!
It was on TCM last week. It was amazing, though it didn’t have sound the action sequences were so exciting that they really put to shame a lot of the stuff in movies now. There were overall more than 130,000 people used in the filming of the movie. I tried to find a version of it on YouTube but I can’t find that much.
The story will be fun to write, I have some of it plotted out, I just have to find a right mood or tone to write the whole thing in, I’m not certain if I want to use a narrator, but I have decided to make it chronological instead of having flashbacks.
130K people?! That’s unbelievable! Thanks for looking, Neb. Unfortunately, I don’t get TCM – but I always see movies I want to watch. Yeah, there were a lot of great silent films. I took a class on cinematographers – one of my faves.
Glad you have an outline going – I hope we’ll be privy to some of the storyline as you progress?!
I plan on sending the chapters through email to everyone here to get feedback and suggestions.
If you ever can get TC it is well worth it, especially in HD! It is amazing how much you can enjoy an older film compared to a lot of the trash being made these days.
Great, I look forward to reading them!
I agree – I really love the older films. I wish TCM was part of my package but adding it isn’t an option right now 😦 – not with the premium channels I already have – I like the series they have running right now. Geez, I have so many films saved to the dvr right now, I’m at 99%
What movies do you have saved to your DVR?
If I remember right, it was either this or the old version of Cleopatra (not the classic version we usually immediately, (may have been black&white, probably) think of but the previous )that they actually buried the extensive sets/props in the desert which were found years later, weird true story.
Hi, MSII! That is interesting! I’ll look into this.
I may pop over to Fox Nation again and get them all in a tizzy , like I did yesterday.
Are you serious?! I shudder to think of you there by yourself! What is this place – Fox Nation?
Its the Fox news blog site, you should visit it, its fun, I went over yesterday and they had a thread about Sarah Palin, well I could’nt resist but take the Mick out of her, and the regulars are just not bright enough to answer you back, they kinda went into a strange mode, where they were just repeating the same things over and over again, one kept asking EVERYBODY, can you name all 50 States really weird, and a few other Libs (like me) joined in, it was like beating up quadraplegics, it was all so easy, they were all just so dumb, I felt as though I had stumbled into a ward for the terminally bewildered.
Beware, the stupid is thick on the ground there!
Sounds like the “brighter” ones end up on HP?! What is your moniker? The same?
Believe me, the ones at HP are the brightest they have.
You must have been rolling!! lolz!
Always fun to poke em with a stick!
That would be fun to watch!
Great AVI, Fi!
What do you call a mummy who wins the lottery?
A lucky stiff!
I’m headed for the pillow. Sweet dreams, Neb and Fi and anyone else. xoxoxo
Take care, Ricki. I’ll chat with you tomorrow.
The Captain is on Deck! Wake up you mangy sea rabbits and get busy scrubbing the deck!
hola mi amigo
How are you today?
good thanks. Was going to go for a run on the local hill but not feeling up for it. I’ll go later.
Seen any movies lately? Read any books? Soon we will have football!
Reading doors of perception by Huxley. Last movie I watched was man of steel. Terrible.
I haven’t read that one yet, I’ve read most of Brave New Word and Ape and Essence. Superman was terrible? I’ll take your word for it, was it any better than the last one?
Doors is literally him writing about what he experienced while tripping balls on mescalin.
Man of steel was better than superman returns, the problem is every character in it makes collosally stupid decisions at every turn. Just mind numbingly stupid choices. It’s not BAD per se its forgettable, which is worse.
Oh my, forgettable is a lot worse. What a waste of a good cast 😦
Wow, I’ve heard about mescalin, that stuff will bomb you away. Isn’t that a hormone?
it’s peyote so I think it’s a cactus fungus that’s processed some how. but I don’t know, apparently it’s a lot like LSD. Not something I am particularly interested in ingesting but an interesting read.
anyway, I need to go chop some logs. Peace out my friend.
Take care, Captain! Enjoy the day, catch you later.
Late update to a link I posted on the last page: http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2013/08/11/fbi-investigating-after-customs-employees-at-jfk-sickened/
I found a cute AVI pic.
Gina approves this AVI
Jack – you can have morning coffee with your weekly travel zen,
See now you have upset my chi. I have been to 2 of the light houses on the list Cabo Rojo Light House, Puerto Rico—long ass drive. Nassau, Bahamas Lighthouse—long ass walk and HOT! But what gets my goat is that The Montauk Point lighthouse was left out, now I’M REALLY MAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was out in the garden spraying my datura, and I have short gingers blooming from pieces that got into a couple of my large pots….some how, Early in the spring I saw little plants in these pots, and I thought where did I get hosta plants from? Here hosta is just slug bait, but in MN I grew hostas all the time.
In my bed of heavily sown zinnias, cosmos, marigolds, and nastursums, the zinnias began blooming today.
So that’s what those are! I have then in my garden.
Crazy story of a TN judge who forced parents to change their baby’s first name from Messiah, she said only one person earned that name.
I called the …Name NAZI
