  1. Caller no. 8 says:

Is HP doing the credit card thing? If so, that’s a socio-economic level deeper than voter suppression laws. Freedom of speech on a supposedly liberal opinion outlet? Voting versus speaking… which is more important… I can’t believe HP has me pondering this.

  2. Caller no. 8 says:

Question: Absolute verification of identity: Ultimately good or bad?

    • On a public site, with who knows how many having access to the data, and which may ultimately be sold to someone you would not want in possession of your info?

      • Jack says:

I would say on ANY site, that is not business or not . I don’t think Huffington Post, Facebok, the New York Times, YouTube, Twitter, JackHole’s realm should ever have any such information — pretty much any site that is where you need to access information or pay bills, access your bank account etc. Is acceptable.

    • Caller no. 8 says:

Absolute means anyone can identify anyone, including the exploiters. Sorting them out becomes a legal matter. Are we capable of that shift?

      • BlueEyedBull says:

The longer HP drags this out with no answers the more people will leave.

        • RF Dude says:

I’m afraid you’re right, Blue. It’s often the case with these upper-management decisions made in a vacuum. They sit around the table with a Great New Idea and convince themselves it’s really, really good.

Then when they announce it to the common-folk and get an unexpected response, they go into defense-mode instead of doing what they should have done in the first place – listen to their people!

It’s another metric of value – “they” know what’s best for “us”, and “we” don’t understand the “big picture”. Continually underestimating your people is a disaster for any company, HP is no different and this isn’t the first time they’ve done it.

For me, it’s just a question of when now – not “if”.

          • BlueEyedBull says:

I was ready to pull the plug early this morning RF. That Jak Handy and all his incarnates have had me fedup with the place. I reported him 3 times and flagged everyone of his comments. I finally contact HP and here is there response to me:

            “Hi Blueeyedbull,

            Thank you for the report.

We have investigated and taken the appropriate action, however, because of privacy rules we cannot share the specifics of that action.

Thanks again, and have a great day!”

If this a fucking joke, “privacy rules.”

            • RF Dude says:

That poster is one of the deranged people that HP should have no trouble spotting or taking action against. And he’s one of those that the new rules will not stop – such single-minded determination to go on and post such crap won’t be stopped by a few extra steps in the verification process.

I’ve seen him come on 3-4-5 times in a night, then go away for an hour and come back with another bagful of socks and start over. it will just take him a bit longer to set up sock accounts, but without HP improving their moderation department he will not be stopped nor will the frustrating problems we all have with the moderation process be improved.

Elizabeth Warren: ‘Now, more than ever, the U.S. needs a strong labor movement’
    Well and truly said!
Robert Reich, Bill Moyers other decent smart sane people have likewise been saying the same for years!

  4. Jack says:

Hi everyone, bye everyone – heading over to the gym.

  5. Ando says:

    I could masturbate to this.

  6. nebdem says:

One thing I’ve noticed over on HP is that on the threads that talk about the upcoming changes, it seems that at the least 75% of the community still isn’t aware of the new policy, and, the Realm is doing a better job of trying to correct the situation than the HP community.

    • Jack says:

Now trying to prevent a mass migration out. HP is in for a big surprise

    • RF Dude says:

      Hi Neb!

Yeah, it seems that either the community isn’t aware or most of the old posters have been in this rodeo and are just waiting to decide whether to stay or go, not trying to change the Corporate Mind this time…

I’m about done over there – no feedback from HP either on the thread or via eMail, and Gawd knows I’ve been ringing the bell enough.

About time to back away and let nature take its course.

      • nebdem says:

Hi, RF! You big conspiracy theorist you 😉

I agree, it seems that most are still unaware of the new policy. You have done a Most Honourable job of stating the concerns of the community.

  7. nebdem says:

Also, double check the sources of all news about Syria. There is a massive misinformation campaign that is being carried out right now. CG recently posted a link to something that we still have not been able to confirm, but that hasn’t stopped that link from growing legs and spreading into another rumor. If anything make certain you know where the arguments for and against military action are coming from.

    • Good advice – there are too many stories out there. Which one are you trying to track down?

      • nebdem says:

I’m still looking into the one you linked, also there is another one that branches off of that one and is implicating Saudi Arabia as the source of the chemicals used in the attack, I haven’t been able to find anything of merit while searching that one out and it leads me to think that it is part of a two-pronged message trying to shift the blame away from the Assad regime.

      • nebdem says:

Also, there is another article that suggests that it was either AQ or Al-Nursa (Basically both because they are joined at the hip), claiming that they set the weapons off by ‘accident.’ That article is also unverified and the very text of the article (I’ll look for it), the text of the article is trying to suggest that either AQ or Al-Nursa had an unfortunate accident, and that we should trust the words of those sicko’s, pure misinformation.

        • Yep, I’m tired of trying to keep all of the conflicting theories straight.

          • nebdem says:

I plan on writing a comment soon about the ‘as stated policy’ and the misinformation surrounding it all. I’m not taking a side in it, that is for another comment, I simply want a outline of what is true and what is not true in the reporting and the un-reporting.

            • Good luck with that – I doubt we’ll ever know exactly what’s going on over there. That’s why it’s called “The Great Game”.

              • nebdem says:

I have a lot of links about it, it does require a lot of background information leading up to it, but I think I can create something like a timeline or an outline about things.

    • Jack says:

Making a Syrian image should be fun.

  8. nebdem says:

Note: To all of the new members that are joining the site. Jack is without Honor, he is the equivalent of a Neville Chamberlain. He prefers Cylons over human beings, even going as far as to call for the complete extermination of every human species in the galaxy.

All freedom loving Human species deserve a right to exist in this and every other galaxy. Don’t buy in for one second the propaganda coming from Jack.
