Over? Did you say “over”? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no! — Bluto

So the conservative talk show host Larry Elder opened up the lines to talk about anyone’s experience signing up for Obamacare. The first caller pointed out how he didn’t want to give out his SS number and was appalled that the government already knew about his personal loans he’s taken out, and that they knew his cat was on insurance. Another one said he was on the phone for hours, but amended it saying he was on a while before getting so worked up about the gov regulating private business that he had to hang up the phone. The last caller, a real dandy of a call, pointed out that she’d lost her job and health ins. of 13 years, that her daughter has asthma and needs the coverage, but got so worked up about not wanting to be dependent on government that she couldn’t go through with the whole thing, and especially being mandated to have it.
Let the chips fall where they may.

      • Beowoof says:

Please forgive me when the pigeons bring this to me and I pass it on for those it may be useful to. These guys spend time trying to enroll, more time calling up a show and complaining when they just need a wall to put holes in. Like rabid animals I tellz you.

    • fi says:

You can’t insure against stupid huh!

    • Where’s Rod Serling when you need him?

      • Beowoof says:

Katniss, I tell you. I had only an afternoon gig for a little bit, so I listen to what’s going on and when the subject comes up, I just want to hear ONE call that can shed a little light on the process and figure that even the conservative listeners might want to hear it as well. Absolutely crazy, with the host chuckling and enjoying the fact that no good news was aired on his show——-“KGB hotline, can I help you”?

Sometimes I wish the radio shows’d fess up that they are scripting the stoopid.

It’s painful to think that people can REALLY be that dumb – I’d much rather they be actors reading parts in a radio-drama.

OTOH, this country did indeed elect George W. Bush to a 2nd term, so it might well be real folks dong it…

I find it odd that advertisers want to be associated.

On the other hand, if they’ve rounded up all the suckers born every minute… stock option!

      • Beowoof says:

Great way of putting it Dude. And it’s the scared folk every time.

    • plutocrats says:

Those tinfoil hats have become a part of their identities, they would literally rather suffer then yield to tyranny. Because privatized health insurance markets is socialized tyranny, obviously. I’m convinced that no small measure of self-loathing goes hand in hand with those who identify with modern conservative politics.

  6. fi says:

So what is happening with the Dems trying to force a vote thru’ in the House, does it take a while to set up?

  7. RF Dude says:

Falling to sleep here, off to bed. Be well, everybody!

    Peace to you.

Jack, is it possible to start a school of deprogramming for the lost and loathing? Is there a market for it? For our ever lovin “tea party”. I’m sure Pluto has a good slogan and sign ready to go

  15. Ricki Lee says:

So now they’re looking at a Discharge Petition??! Which may or may not be done by 10/14? Why are they putting us – fed workers – in the middle of this shit??!! We can’t even find another job – once they look at our resume, it will be “aha…. you work for the fed gov…. and how long do you plan to keep this job?” If they can pay us later, they need to find a way to pay us NOW! This totally sucks!!!! So I’m working the jobette and have to work 3 times more hours to meet my hourly. I’ll be dead by the time they resolve this crapola. Competition is stiff around these parts for aid – I can tell you that – we’re screwed.

    • Beowoof says:

This will end soon, so I hope you can hold out Ricki. I’m not happy with this ad calling Boehner a baby. He and Obama have had some kind of falling out, but it’s best they repair whatever it it since he’s the only one to stave off the crazies. Even if they vote him out, he’s got to have congress to a straight vote on the continuing resolution.

      • Caller no. 8 says:

The simple problem is Republicans want respect for actions that deserve none.

      • Ricki Lee says:

Can you define “soon”? Sorry, I guess I’ll just post some tunes and keep quiet – there’s nothing I can say that hasn’t already been said. I’ve not seen the ad yet – did it actually come from Obama?

        • Beowoof says:

I’m sorry sweetie, I just try and read the vibes out there and pay attention. I’m usually pretty accurate on what’s coming down the pike and I’d noticed last year after the election that Obama had really offended Boehner, whereas earlier he’d tried to keep him close. This new anti Boehner ad will just piss the hell out of him
          http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/10/04/john-boehner-shutdown-ad_n_4044042.html

I think Obama and his staff have to really have some meaningful time discussing this shutdown along with the debt ceiling. Boehner is not wholly unreasonable and knows that he’ll be torn to shreds here if he has a clean CR vote. Obama’s got to let Boehner do this without the insults and if he loses his speakership Obama deals with the debt ceiling by executive order. I think it’s all coming soon, as in by the end of the weekend. I hope

        • Beowoof says:

And no, it didn’t come from Obama. Some dumbass liberal group feeling that full immersion shame was needed. Not to a Scorpio, it ain’t gonna work.
