Almost Two-Thirds of 18-29 Year Olds Believe in “Demon Possession” What Is Happening to America?
Belief in supernatural phenomena has spiked.

Over one half (63 percent, to be exact) of young Americans 18-29 years old now believe in the notion that invisible, non-corporeal entities called “demons” can take partial or total control of human beings, revealed an October 2012 Public Policy Polling survey that also showed this belief isn’t declining among the American population generally; it’s growing.

Pretty much my mode these days, too. It was bad enough with the massive troll influx (which continues unabated) but I absolutely REFUSE to wade through the troll-chit over there in the new format.

          Garbage is still garbage.

Pretty horrific – I clicked through to the MRFF site, the examples of the “Manga Messiah” comics are clearly anti-Semitic and offensive, calculated to blame “them” for the evils of today.

It’s like shouting fire in a crowded theater – not in the least First Amendment free-speech, but simply hate speech directed against an ethnic group.

The only thing that surprises me is that the authors of Manga Messiah are not showing Muslims – which would be equally horrific – but instead are reviving the ancient Xtians vs. Jews hatred that (foolishly, it seems) should have been eliminated from our thoughs-process after the extermination camps were discovered 70 years ago in Nazi Germany…

We are indeed, as a species, bound to a Wheel of Life that keeps turning around to the same old hatreds, the same mistakes, the same horrors.

The World is insensitive to our (perceived) sufferings, but it seems there is a large part of the human brain still dedicated to fear of “them”. A survival mechanism left over from the days when tribes had to fight each other for basic survival.

It might have been a necessary adaptation then, in the distant past, but today only serves to divide us as a species from moving forward to the stars…

Hagel calls out states denying military LGBT spouses IDs
Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell has been dead for nearly three years, yet LGBT service members are still fighting to receive the same benefits as their fellow soldiers. In nine states, National Guard bases are refusing to recognize same-sex spouses and issue them ID cards. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel spoke out against those states on Thursday night.

Good morning Realm, I hope you all are not too hungover from yesterdays sugar high. 🙂
Here’s an article I found this morning that will certainly short circuit a few brain cells in the closed-minded.

Germany has become Europe’s first country to allow babies with characteristics of both sexes to be registered as neither male nor female.
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-24767225

    • waverly says:

I find the article interesting because it acknowledges a biological reality that has been truly ignored. This of course coming from a person who wrote a sociology paper in college titled “Androgyny our Future Humanhood”. Hey, I was way into David Bowie at the time, and had my hair cut like the album cover of “Young Americans”.

    • Check this out 3 days ago http://resources2.news.com.au/images/2013/01/30/1226564/821994-garret-mcnamara.jpg

I think parents of such babies should give them Androgynous names and let the children grow up and decided what they are—it happens sooner than you think. I know it’s a simplistic view of a complex issue but it is certainly better than to guess the orientation of a child and subject them to surgery.

      • waverly says:

        Hey there Jack,
I really don’t see the need for designating gender on a birth certificate anymore than you would identify religion. Why have it on there at all ? What purpose does it serve ? Who decreed there should only be two sexes ? God ? I see sex/gender falling on a spectrum superseding a binary “choice”. I actually worked with someone born with a double set of chromosomes, one set male the other female, who grew up as a boy until developing breasts. She never felt the need for having surgery, and seemed perfectly happy without it.

I agree, let the kid grow up and decide “what they are”, i.e. human, anything after that is just window dressing imo.

Captain !!!! So this is your big night out on the town, is it ?

      • captainpoco says:

One of many. It’s getting harder to find time now playing football for my college and being a final year medical student, but it’s important to make time to get drunk and have fun with friends and to make new friends, hopefully of the attractive female variety.
