Obama And Health Insurers Eye Each Other Warily
When Obama decided that private health insurers would play a major role in health overhaul, he linked the success of his signature domestic policy initiative to the same industry that tried at first to keep the Affordable Care Act from happening.

On Friday, Obama met industry executives at the White House, one day after he announced he would issue an administrative fix to let insurers keep selling health plans that don’t meet the bare minimum required by the new health care law.

The timing of Friday’s meeting was emblematic of the bad blood between the president and the insurance industry. It came after, not before, Obama’s Thursday announcement. Insurance industry officials they didn’t learn the details of the president’s plan to deal with the insurance policy cancellation issue until everyone else did.

“This is a bare knuckles political move trying to throw the hot potato in the insurance industry’s seat,” Laszewski* said.

*[Bob. Laszewski is a health care consultant whose clients include health insurance companies, casualty insurance companies, HMOs, Blue Cross organizations, hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, and physician groups.]

Personally, I see this move as our President being tired of dancing around with these maggot insurers. Time to play hardball. Perhaps he saw this coming and that’s why he was more concerned with getting the ACA out bug free or not, knowing that he was going to give it another year anyway. Yeah it’s a hit to his credibility now, but a small price to pay to change the health care of our nation. Only time will tell, and history will be the judge.

    • It’s quite the show. Morning, waver;y! I wish he’d fast forward to Medicare for all and get it all over with.

      • waverly says:

That would be ideal, but he’s always tried to hold the middle ground and this is no exception.

Hey CG, how’s your day lookin’ so far ?

        • Reading what I wrote, it seems my day is “looking” better than I am. LOL Lemme try that again . . . Morning waverly! 😀

        • So, what do you think will come of this meeting – any revelations in the wind?

          • waverly says:

The way I see it, since 2009 the insurance companies have been trying sabotage the ACA. Fast forward to Oct 1, 2013, now all of a sudden when they realize there’s nothing they can do to halt it, the insurance companies just want to get on with their business as usual and put it behind them. But Obama has said ‘wait guys, not so fast, let’s sit back down and really talk about this now that I bought us a little extra time”.

I could be way out in left field, but that’s my take. I am more willing to see our President as “dumb like fox” rather than just dumb, as others would like to make him out to be.

  2. Yum-O-Rama! Finishing off a pot of Anasazi beans with smoked ham hock . . .

Gonna need a pan of cornbread for this!

  5. termgirl says:

    Good morning, Realm.
I’m off to a slow start this morning; which blows ’cause I really do need to get some stuff done.
    (Tick tock, tick tock.)
Should have read some sports news, or found some cute kitty pictures… but nooooooo; I had to torture myself by reading about the lunatic that gave us Ted Cruz
“Ted Cruz’s Father Suggests Placing Atheists in ‘Camps”
“It’s a free country,” he said. “If these people need to practice their holy rites of atheism, they can do so, as long as they are in clearly-marked encampments far away from the rest of us.”

“While they’re in their Heathen Zones, they’re free to dance naked around the fire, brand the mark of the Devil on their flesh or whatever else they want to do,” he added. “Of course, if they step one foot outside the electrified fence we shoot them between the eyes. Two or three times, just to be sure.”

He also argued that any children spawned in these camps would be removed at birth so they would not be drawn into secular humanism via their birth-mother’s tainted breast milk.
(I am relieved to know that the “camps” will be in Northern California or Vermont. Being exiled to Texas really would be the ultimate punishment for this secular humanist.
All I can see is that my mother was an atheist, and this piece of shit couldn’t hold a moral candle to her.) .

    • They’re the sickest of the sick – and those idiots have the unmitigated gall to claim the moral high ground. TedWardo and his old man may turn slowly on a spit in Hell, for my money.

      Hi, tg!

      • termgirl says:

        Hi, CG.
        This really got to me.
I am so pissed that these people are not roundly called out on the MSM.
They get away with saying the most outrageous things, but the President has to absolutely walk on eggshells, and every word he speaks is dissected and debated, ad nauseum.

    • USAGramma says:

Yikes! What a moron. He needs to learn the difference between atheism and satanism, for starters. Couldn’t we build an education camp for guys like this? Perhaps somewhere in the Arizona desert?

    • waverly says:

Now you see the absolute twisted mind that gave Ted Cruz all his moral inspiration. And armed with his ivy-league education he aims to make his daddy proud. Who vote for this imbecile but another imbecile.

  6. termgirl says:

I will see you good folks later.
Wish I were there to share a bowl of those beans with you, CG. They sound so good.
Wanted to welcome Number9 to the Realm. Hope to cross paths with you later.
    Have a good day, everyone.

  15. Hello again, No. 9. We already have a No. 8!

  16. This is so cool. A former Marine and a lesbian was stiffed by a couple of knuckleheads as a waitress and wrote on their bill that they “didn’t approve of her lifestyle.” Well, she griped about it on Facebook, and now she has received $2,000 in tips from around the world.

  17. BlueEyedBull says:

Talk about dumb luck. I have a client that wants to buy around 10 homes. For his own reasons he doesn’t want to do conventional financing. He has great credit and makes good money. Besides after 4 homes it becomes questionable whether they will do another loan. Tried owner carry back, but it is 18% interest. It so happens I have a client that works with a hard money lender (private). Anyway, have a conference call today with my client and the lender and they are going to loan my client 1 million @ 4% interest as a line of credit. Man, I looked good in the eyes of my client.

  18. BassFace says:
