    Scott Walker’s War On Christmas!

Last week, Walker’s campaign sent an email encouraging supporters not to buy gifts for their children and to use that money instead to support his reelection effort.

“Instead of electronics or toys that will undoubtedly be outdated, broken, or lost by the next Holiday Season, help give your children the gift of a Wisconsin that we can all be proud of,” the email read.

Michele Bachmann: President Obama ‘has rewritten the Constitution for himself’

    • USAGramma says:

Bachmann is one sick individual. A House hearing??? Wouldn’t this money/time be better wasted by the SCOTUS??!! 😆 😥

Good evening, my “plates of meat” are aching, been walking around Edinburgh today, particularly the wee German market, with all its lovely food!
And how are things in the land of plenty today?

A little wind + dead snag across neighbors driveway + chainsaw = free cord of wood.

      Oh my…Hi Liz I.

    • USAGramma says:

Woo-hoo! Fortuitous and a neighborly favor as well! Reminds me of my younger years. 🙂

      • Lizard Island says:

At least I won’t have to haul these rounds up a slope! They tree landed on flat ground. Nothing damaged either.

        • USAGramma says:

Aged well? Man I miss the feeling of a job well done after splitting and stacking a cord of warm!

          • Lizard Island says:

Yeah, been cutting some green new stuff. Neighbor had some removed for an ocean view and said I could have them. The green stuff weighs at least twice as much. This stuff I cut today can be burnt immediately but I’ve got enough for winter now. My fireplace just looks pretty and, unless you sit on the hearth it won’t heat you or the house. Should have put in a free standing stove, they are much more efficient. My fireplace is rock on two sides, one side is the living room and the other side is the master bedroom so there are actually two hearths.

            • USAGramma says:

I burned to heat my 2-story house with a single free-standing stove in the kitchen, and saved on electric by using it for cooking as well. Had a fireplace, too, but rarely used it because of the inefficiency. Free-standing is a worthwhile investment.

            • waverly says:

Hey Orcas, I’ve actually stayed in a cabin at a winter cross-country ski resort. The fireplace had S-shaped tubes maybe 3 inches or so in diameter coming from the fireplace and going up and along the ceiling. There was a fan attached to a thermostat that blew the hot air across the top of the room. It was pretty toasty in there.

              • Lizard Island says:

Hi, Waverly. My contractor screwed up. He was supposed to put in a heatilator thing sort of like what you describe. Oh, well. I was down in California when they built it. But, to his credit I don’t think they make one for a fireplace that is open on both sides. I’d actually like one of the newer free-standing wood fireplaces that also have a built in bread baking oven. That would be cool. Plus boil water or soup, whatever on the top flat surface.

                • waverly says:

Sounds good to me. My mother is a big-time conservation freak, (she’s 85 now). So this was back in the day when no one knew or cared what that was. She owned land in the Adirondacks and as kids she took us up there when it was 50 below at night. We had (what was then called) a potbelly stove in the middle of our cabin. It would get really warm in there (too warm sometimes). 🙂

            • MSII says:

I miss having a fireplace, it was sooooo nice during the winter, so comforting the feel and smell. Sigh…..

    • Lizard Island says:

She is such a nutjob. Her and Palin. yuk.

      • MSII says:

They are either both very stupid and mentally damaged creatures… only a base cunning has made them successful pandering to the absolute lunatic-fringe.
