Hi Realmsters. Thought I better stop by to let you know I’m alive. I feel like chit, but I’m here. 🙂

  2. Ingrid Lee says:

Hiya Gordon. I didn’t try, don’t really understand the “Gravatar” thing – I’m an old lady ;-D. Now that I’m “outed”, I might as well stick to my “new” identity. After all, I’m not a criminal or anything. I did and do mind very much Facebook or HuffPost requesting my full identity, and making money from my data, but I am not paranoid. I do miss HuffPost though, whenever I check them out. Lots of good “revolutionary” subjects they’re discussing. Plus Spiegel online and others in Germany always take their time to post your answers, and then only during office hours – it sucks. Before they’ll do it the HP way, the Internet will be so toxic, nobody in their right minds will want to post anything controversial.

  3. Ingrid Lee says:

Okay, I’ll try, thank you. But actually, using my real name isn’t so bad really. I remember at the beginnings of the Internet, we weren’t afraid of using our real names, or am I just nostalgic and pining after my younger years? Things do change faster than they used too, though, that I am sure of.

  4. Ingrid Lee says:

Since today’s theme is Obama’s speech, I wonder how you all feel about O succeeding in his (in my opinion – honest) quest to better the middle class’s fate (nobody talks about the innumerable poor anymore, but Americans seem to be used to that), and to cut the 1%’s privileges a tiny bit (if I remember this correctly). Do you think that is possible in the homeland of capitalism? Will there ever be any movement like in Ukraine right now? But then, who would you protest against – Obama? IMO he’s a well-meaning marionette who can’t change things – if he’d had his way (as President!) Guantánamo would be history. Somehow, somewhere, you don’t seem to have a real “enemy”. Unless, of course, it’s Coca Cola and McD, Monsanto, and oil, energy…

    • Gordon says:

Things would have been better with a fairly represented House. Gerrymandering not only was the Republican firewall, it opened the door to the lunatic right. The Right can only lose power from their position, just not quickly enough.

      • Ingrid Lee says:

I’m not a historian or anything, but I think that one of the problems of America’s so-called democracy is that there are only two (only 2!!!) parties who count, the rest is a waste of energy, love and money. I live in a country with four to five parties changing places with different coalitions. It works here in Germany, it is a disaster in Italy. In the USA, the disaster seems to be that there is no real choice. Each and every politician is being influenced/paid by the industrial/military complex way beyond what is taking place on the European level (which is bad enough!). And I don’t only know that from reading John Grisham and the leftist media. The US prison “industry” speaks for itself.

    • You nailed it, perhaps that’s the better narrative, we all get caught-up in the middle class perhaps because we all fashion ourselves to be that group but we gloss over how we get there. Too often it’s by working two jobs as our friend Ricki Lee does, no doubt most of us feel the pinch even in double income households.

Then there are those like Gordon who had to relocate just to eek by. We all are part of the working poor, sure we are not “I work at wall mart and I got no money” poor but we are not to far off. The poor in America have become invisible, they have no voice.

We can’t even guarantee favorable results during the midterm elections there is no way we will ever be like the Ukraine. Coca Cola and McD, Monsanto, and oil companies have become our guardians hell that reminds me I gotta make them a valentine’s day card 😀

      • Ingrid Lee says:

I’m absolutely for gun control, but I can understand how come Americans want guns – nobody else defends them, the police are not the “friends and helpers” they are supposed to be in Germany (that’s their slogan, but they are not perfect, not at all). The USSR and the USA are the opposite sides of the spectrum – total “socialism” (which it never was, it was pure unadulterated dictatorship) versus total capitalism – the industrial/military complex buying ALL politicians. Which is the case in present Russia, too. Where the poor get poorer, and the rich get even more obscenely rich. In other words, Russia is not socialist (never was), the USA is not democratic; they more and more resemble each other. Where votes can be bought, there is no democracy. Where the poor have no voice, slavery in its modern form is only around the corner (or already there).

Ok, here’s what’s going on–I’ve been feeling yucky for last week or so, with headaches, nausea, tired. I just chalked it up to the stress of the problems with my kid, the mess she’s left in my apt., and trying to balance 2 cats and the dog who doesn’t like them in my 1-bdrm home.
Friday I went shopping with the young man who’s been staying with me. First I tried to find my girl’s car to drop off LittleMan’s toys and Xmas stuff, but couldn’t find it.
At the 1st store I started feeling light-headed and sweaty, so I gave him my $ for my stuff and went out to the car to wait for him–I felt better with the cold air, so I just figured anxiety attack.
At 2nd store I got worse–hard time breathing, shaky, sweaty, dizzy. I sat a few times & made it to the checkout, but it was bad, so again I went out to get air. I had to sit on the curb and breathe it out before I made it back to the car. I had him do the last 2 stores while I stayed in the car. I just figured I was having bad anxiety/panic attacks.

  6. To GRAMMA- Heart attacks, no matter how mild, cause PERMANENT damage to the heart. Please go see your doctor, don’t wait for next appointment. If you can’t get in, go to the ER. IF this happens again before you are seen, PLEASE call 911. I’m serious. I used to work for a cardiologist as his medical assistant; I know what I’m talking about. DON’T minimize this or let your situation with your daughter affect your judgement. We love you.
Hi, guys. Sorry I’ve been MIA- am in a deep depression. I’ve been concerned about Gramma and Caller. I don’t have it in me to be social right now. Love you all, I’ll be back soon.

  7. Ingrid Lee says:

I’m sure Obama is not allowed to ever-ever sing this song in public, but Pete Seeger did:

Pete’s version of the Internationale is French. I know only the German version by heart: Die Internationale erkämpft des Menschen Recht…
This song is so old and yet so relevant today – what could be more relevant in a global world?

  8. Gordon says:

Woodie Guthrie ~ All You Fascists are Bound to Lose

    • Ingrid Lee says:

That is very optimistic – if only the fascists were really bound to lose! They’ll win if nobody stops them. Real problems like fascists don’t disappear by themselves.

No doubt they protected the big-agro give-away pork! Gotta protect the corporate-factory-“food”-producers at the expense of PEOPLE and -real- farmers!

  10. termgirl says:

    USA….
Please heed the advice of your friends here.
It is very possible that you need blood pressure medication, or some other meds, that will help prevent another episode.
We love you and want the best for you.
Head to the ER, if that is the only option.

    msb…. Take care, sweetie.

    See you guys later.
