Well the Jax Polease have proved once again that they are totally inept. I now hold them in total contempt. Fortunately, for my elderly neighbor, a 76 y/o with Alzheimers, I was late getting out the door for fun and frivolity, my friends waiting outside in their car, and she knocked on the window of their car – exclaiming she was lost and didn’t know where she lived and had the good sense to ask them to call the police. Soooo, they did without calling me first. Getting ready to walk out the door, they called me and said take your time the cops are on their way. They explained what was going on and said some lady named Sunny is lost out in front of your house. Long story short, I went running out and proceeded to walk her home, but she wouldn’t go up to the house because she was adamant that it wasn’t her house. Front door was locked up and after checking out two other doors, found one opened and went in hoping someone was actually there – some stranger appeared and was clueless that she was missing. This poor woman was in nothing but a nightgown and was an icicle – frozen to the bone. sob! Gawd only knows how long she had been wandering the streets aimlessly, but I would say quite some time since she was seemingly frozen. They guys peeled off their jackets and scarves and had wrapped her up tight. Anyways, 45 minutes later after much convincing that it was indeed her house, I see a cop car roll by at about 30 mph – never slowed down – bastids. Sometimes, it pays to be running late, I guess, for if I had not been – I truly think she would’ve been found in the gutter at daylight. Alzheimers is a horrible disease and my heart bleeds for those in her condition with caregivers who could give a shit. My only regret is calling back to 911 and cancelling the call – after the cop rolled down the street. The caregiver should have been called on the carpet for this!!!! I will contact her son, a friend of mine – and an attorney. He will raise holy effin hell – and I will be right by his side!

I am sitting here in the morning reading this chronicle in total astoundment . This is the real world we live in if one is fortunate then they will have a neighbor like you.
You make the world a better place dear Ricki.

        you are a good person,,,with a good heart!! 🙂

      • Ricki Lee says:

Good morning, dearest Bebe. Honestly, this could have been a tough reality for her family – who really do take good care of her and pay well to insure she is well taken care of. I guess it is just one of those things and being in the right place at the right time! And I give my friends much credit for stopping her in her tracks! Good guys – all of them! Between them, they gave up jacket, hat and scarf. And kept her engaged until I could get out the door! What a night! lolz!

You ARE a good neighbor, Ricki..Bless your heart!….8-)

      • Ricki Lee says:

Thanks, 4 Eyes!! But nothing you wouldn’t have done yourself! Like I told Bebe, just in the right place at the right time – thankfully! 😀 The cop response time really incensed me tho and we have some issues there, but it will be addressed – her son is an attorney and is really ticked off right now – as he should be! A Silver Alert could have been too late for this one!

Good Morning Dwellers of the Realm!!

Former GOP Activist: I’m Done With the Party of Bigots
The cultural disconnect among Republican leaders is so severe that I just don’t think that the party can be saved.

I’ve been a Republican activist all my life. As a volunteer and professional staffer, I held positions in party organizations and campaigns since high school. I was the ultimate partisan team player, even forming GOProud, an organization for gay conservatives and their allies. But I no longer recognize the party I grew up supporting, and I recently announced that I have changed my voter registration to “no party.”
I left the Republican party because it no longer represents my principles and values. I am a limited government conservative, yet Republicans today like big government, as long as they are in charge of it. I also don’t tolerate bigotry of any kind, and today’s party does. While most Republicans I’ve known over the years aren’t bigots, they tolerate and kowtow to the few who are.
The wrong voices have dominated policy debates.

The liberal legacy Henry Waxman will leave behind

With California Democratic Rep. Henry Waxman’s retirement at the end of the year, three of this era’s five most consequential House Democrats—Waxman, George Miller, and Barney Frank—will be gone. Only Nancy Pelosi and John Dingell (should he decide to run for a 30th term) will remain.
Even that understates the magnitude of Waxman’s departure. For Democrats, it’s the biggest loss of Capitol Hill talent since Ted Kennedy’s death in 2009. In sheer accomplishment, Waxman’s 40 years in the House merit comparison to Kennedy’s 46 in the Senate, especially in the area of public health. Like Kennedy, Waxman distinguished himself by successfully advancing liberal causes even when conservatism was on the rise.

    Back in 1957
We had to dance a foot apart
And they hawk-eyed us from the sidelines
Holding their rulers without a heart
And so with just a touch of our fingers
I could make our circuitry explode
    All we ever wanted
Was just to come in from the cold

    Come in
    Come in from the cold
    (we were so young)
    Oh come in
    Come in from the cold

  11. majorwiblit says:

    “Eleven Hints for Life”

    1. It hurts to love someone and not be loved in return.
But what is more painful is to love someone and never
find the courage to let that person know how you feel.
    2. A sad thing in life is when you meet someone who
means a lot to you, only to find out in the end that it was
never meant to be and you just have to let go.
    3. The best kind of friend is the kind you can sit on a
porch swing with, never say a word, and then walk away
feeling like it was the best conversation you’ve ever had.
    4. It’s true that we don’t know what we’ve got until we lose
it, but it’s also true that we don’t know what we’ve been
    missing until it arrives.
    5. It takes only a minute to get a crush on someone, an
hour to like someone, and a day to love someone-but it
takes a lifetime to forget someone.
    6. Don’t go for looks, they can deceive. Don’t go for wealth,
even that fades away. Go for someone who makes you
smile because it takes only a smile to make a dark day
    seem bright.
    7. Dream what you want to dream, go where you want to go,
be what you want to be. Because you have only one life and
one chance to do all the things you want to do.
    8. Always put yourself in the other’s shoes. If you feel that it
hurts you, it probably hurts the person too.
    9. A careless word may kindle strife. A cruel word may wreck
a life. A timely word may level stress. But a loving word may
    heal and bless.
    10. The happiest of people don’t necessarily have the best
of everything they just make the most of everything that comes
    along their way.
    11. Love begins with a smile, grows with a kiss, ends with
a tear. When you were born, you were crying and everyone
around you was smiling. Live your life so that when you die,
you’re the one smiling and everyone around you is crying.

8 Ways Being Poor Is Wildly Expensive in America
If you don’t have money you end up spending more to survive.
    AlterNet / By Dave Johnson

It takes money to make money, they say, but if you don’t have money you lose money. Those with the money have been cutting themselves so much of the money pie that half of us are poor or almost poor now. According to the US Census Bureau, half of Americans are poor, or just on the edge. Fifteen percent (46.5 million) are in poverty, while “half of Americans are in or near poverty.” On top of that 76% of Americans are living paycheck-to-paycheck.

Republicans constantly talk about how good the poor have it. In 2002 the Wall Street Journal called the poor “Lucky Duckies” because they are “the beneficiaries” of the progressive tax system and pay little or no taxes. But the reality is that it just plain sucks to be poor. It’s actually more expensive not having enough money to get by.

    Good Morning, The Realm!
Up early to talk to Craig, my neighbor’s son. Turns out he was in Orlando for a conference – not even in Jax – glad I got up early to speak with him about this tho. He’ll be back in town tomorrow and by now has read the riot act to the caregiver! So all is well on this front – no one’s 76 y/o mother should be out wandering the streets at 11 pm! in her nightgown! He was horrified and grateful – I just told him to let me know the next time he is out of town, so we can keep an extra eye on her. He will deal with the Jax Sheriff’s Office when he gets back in town! Someone was looking out for Sunny last night!! A great lady – who doesn’t know me anymore. 😦 Just thankful, it all ended well!! 😀 And a shout out to my friends – who took care of her!! Great guys, indeed!! mwah!

      • Ricki Lee says:

Thanks – me, too! It was the subject of discussion the rest of the night. We all hoped that we are a long way off – but who knows?! In reality, it was a bit of a wake up call!! If you could have only seen her – totally heartbreaking. 😦

        • FOUR EYES says:

My next-door neighbor is a gardener/landscaper like me but was diagnosed with ALS a few years ago..It’s hearbreaking to see him going thru this, too – he ties a rope to a big plastic tub and drags it around the yard behind his walker..At least he still gets to enjoy that much ….8-)

          • Ricki Lee says:

Ohhhhh, indeed, 4Eyes! My hope and prayer is to have the wherewithal to be independent and able-minded! No doubt, taking care of one’s health is waaayyy important and a responsibility we shouldn’t take lightly whilst we can. The fact that he gets out there is a testament to the aforesaid!! 😀

Getting to be super busy, but I had some news. A good friend of my daughters has made it to Hollywood on American Idol. Next week is Hollywood week. He can’t say how well he has done, but we know that he and his mother moved to L.A. He auditioned in Omaha unfortunately his audition wasn’t included in last night’s show. Supposedly (per a leaked list) he’s in the top 30.

Here’s a link to his picture auditioning.

Here’s a link to him singing. It’s a bit long, but at 5:56 he sings walking Walking in Memphis which I think is the best of the three songs.

My daughter knows many very talented people because she’s a theater major. Jack has one of the best voices of any of her friends.

    • CPAwADD says:

Okay, I read online that sometime between round 1-4 he gets rejected. The show like most reality television is a meat grinder. They are all a variation on the children’s game musical chairs.

      • Ricki Lee says:

Hey, CPA!! No matter – it is really exciting news! And what an opportunity for this young guy! Waaaayyy cool! I know your daughter has been pretty psyched!

    Good mornin’ Realm!
Henry Waxman’s decision not to run again is viewed by some as an indication that the House won’t be Democratic any time soon. Gerrymandering is tough to overcome. But wait, is there a silver lining to this turn of events?

Sandra Fluke strongly considering run for Congress

    OH YEAH!!! 😀

    Good morning, Realm.
RL…… Kudos to you for going the extra mile and helping your neighbor’s mom.
    You are a good soul.
Alzheimer’s is such a cruel disease, not only for the person suffering from it, but for their family members, as well.

I am crushed to here that Henry Waxman is retiring.from Congress.
Some people don’t get the credit they deserve for their body of work, and Congressman Waxman is one of them, IMO,

Well, I have to get going.
Have a wonderful day, Realm folk.

I hope you have a wonderful day, as well! GO BRONCOS!!! lolz! 😀
