Being Human: Redemption, Is It Possible?

Being Human:  A realm exploration of what  makes people, people.

Well the Being Human: series was a complete flop. Raging against Politicians, Cheering for Politicians, Superbowl, the creationists wars, Republican douchebaggery  (not a word but I don’t care)and a thousand little things took center stage.

So, I’ll answer my own question, it will be drowned out by first place blood-lust any way. Regardless of the suffering, real or imagined, regardless of the injustice, the inequality, regardless of all the negative we report about on a daily basis–I say yes we can be redeemed as a species.

People  do the imaginable everyday but there is also merit in the mundane. You don’t have to save the world, you don’t need to save a life, a smile to a stranger ( of course I’m not talking 2am in central park ) helping someone cross the street, holding a door open for others–engaging in these trivialities is how you pay for the privilege of being HUMAN. Pick something of your own but if you read this and find no value in it then YOU may be beyond redemption—don’t mistake it as WE  are all  irredeemable.

  2. forpeace says:

What exactly means “Being Human” ?

    • Jackholius says:

Being Human: As it pertains here; is a short series of post highlighting qualities, really anything you guys wanted to talk about – an insight into makes people, people. Well in theory.

So for this page the topic is Redemption of the species–I still have not given-up on humanity, what’s your take?

  3. FOUR EYES says:

      • FOUR EYES says:

I was just out shoveling again, but I need to do some cosmetic work on a 1969 Ford Mustang center console I’m restoring for my brother, so I just need to warm up a small table area..Then while it’s drying I’m going to take a Cat(s)+Lap=Nap.. 😆 ….8-)

        • captainpoco says:

Fancy building me a 69 fastback?

          • FOUR EYES says:

I have a naked one in my garage..In fact, I built one that I shipped to England that has some history to it….8-)

        • My first car was a 1965 Mustang. Oh, how I miss that machine.

          • FOUR EYES says:

It was a lot more fun when I could bend over and get up from the floor without grunting, Dawg..I miss ’em all.. 😆 ….8-)

        • waverly says:

Hi 4E, so when you talk about the shop where you are doing the work on the car, is this the garage to your house, or your son’s shop with the fuel tanks ?

          • FOUR EYES says:

MY Shop is a basement garage..THE SHOP is our (new) facility up near your end of town that has everything from his garage and stuff from My Shop..With me so far?..THE SHOP has the oil tanks and the trucks..MY Shop has a 72 Ranchero in it, along with a torn down 460 engine, a built up 302 engine, a new C6 and and a rebuilt C5, and the console I’m restoring..MY Garage has a 69 Mach 1 body shell and tons of other stuff in it including more oil-processing equipment..OUR garage has the daily cars and housey-stuff..Did that make sense??.. LOL ….8-)

    • Jackholius says:

4E 42 indoors is beyond redemption crank-up that heat!

      • waverly says:

        in a garage ?

          • waverly says:

If it’s small enough. I could be wrong but it sounded rather large. I thought he was storing some big tanks in there.

            • Big tanks of what?
We just finishing adding on to my shop. It was an uninsulated shed, attached to the shop. It’s now insulated, a door cut through from the main shop. But, because the milling machine that’s going to live in there is so tall, we’re putting on an insulated garage door. It should be pretty toasty in there. Not terribly large though. The door was supposed to go on today, but the storm pushed it back a day.

              • waverly says:

I might be thinking of his son’s shop, that has the tanks for alternative fuel. I’ll ask.

              • waverly says:

My brother-in-law put an insulated garage door on his garage and turned it into a man cave. Of course he lives in the Cape Fear area which is right on the coast between North and South Carolina, a lot warmer than the Northeast.

Jack is partial to redheads ! That must be why you guys get along so well 😀

              • FOUR EYES says:

Hey, Dawg..Tanks of used cooking oil that gets turned in biodiesel..all local….8-)

                • msolomon2 says:

Nice! I’ve dreamed of getting a van that runs on bio-diesel.

                • FOUR EYES says:

I had a Jetta TDI that I was about to convert when the trans AND the turbo quit.. I’m hoping by summer to have our F550 converted to run on it..Moar diesels with the new biofuels means less oil refining to make gas..So it’s a good thing….8-)

                • msolomon2 says:

I know -zero- about cars, I’m sure what you said there made sense. to someone….

                • FOUR EYES says:

      • FOUR EYES says:

  5. BassFace says:

    Dr. forpeace..? Calling Dr. forpeace??

  6. nebdem says:

Don’t change the page too quickly, Jack. I have a few things I’m writing up for this page.

    • waverly says:

Hey Neb, it’s only at 353 Responses, so he shouldn’t change it too soon.

    • forpeace says:

Totally agree with you dear, neb ……… even though I have nothing in writing for this page.

      • nebdem says:

Greetings, ForPeace! Great to see you. How have you been?

        • forpeace says:

I’m not working today, that’s why I came in here twice!! 😉

But, life is as good as it gets, how are you doing?

          • nebdem says:

A day off is always a treat! I hope you are enjoying it? Looks like you are!

I’m doing good, staying sunny though it is cold outside, it is manageable. Wish the warm weather would get up off its lazy behind and show up soon 😉

            • forpeace says:

Yes, if starting to get sick because of the reckless employees with flu coming to work is a treat, then YES, a day off is a treat, and I’m enjoying it!!! 😡

I guess we need more water, therefore more snow and rain is a good idea, it is winter after all, although some prefer warm weather. I just feel so sad for the homeless people!!

              • nebdem says:

Catching the flu from those that aren’t decent enough to keep it to themselves is a pain. Working in the public can be a risk when flu season begins, best always to wash your hands and if needs be turn away from their breathing!

I sure hope those without a home this year have the means to a warm place to stay for the night. They suffer a lot in these conditions.

                • forpeace says:

We cannot live in a bubble, but there are always people who are reckless and have no respect for others health.

Sadly, not all of them are staying in a warm place, I have seen so many of them.

                • nebdem says:

Politicians can live in bubbles though 😦

          • forpeace says:

Oh wait …….. there was another time I cam in her twice!!

  7. forpeace says:

    Mr. Jackholius,

Don’t worry, I’m not touching you with a needle.

    I’m just a Doctor, not a nurse!!

Regarding Being Human ………….. MORE please!!

  8. Well, no bank today, the police told me to go back to my car, there’s an armed robber running around.

  9. Haruko Haruhara says:

Well, there’s been a ton of updates on the CVS Pharmacies story. Fox News blamed Obama … they really did. http://mediamatters.org/blog/2014/02/05/fox-freaks-out-over-cvs-ending-sales-of-tobacco/197947

  10. nebdem says:

    Redemption, Is it possible?

To be redeemed indicates you have worth, worth as seen in the eyes of your friends and family, worth as seen by the whole of humanity, worth as seen spiritually; are people worthy enough to be forgiven?

Are people worthy enough to be accepted with all of their faults and mistakes? Are people worthy themselves to redeem themselves? Surely redemption is something seen in the eyes of others, but redemption when it matters the most is found within, salvation lies within. Only within can the demons people carry with them throughout their life be fought. It is a constant battle, it is a battle that lasts over lifetime. There is no easy way out of this, nor a shortcut to avoid this. There is no vacation or even a coffee break. It all lies within your heart, all hearts collectively, because to see worth in another one must see that worth has substance.

Is redemption possible? It can be, it ought to be, but it is up to the person that feels they need to be redeemed. Nobody is perfect. We are all flawed. Our flaws make us the same and different at the same time. Everybody has experienced pain and sadness, depression. It may vary in degrees for each person, but we all share it and experience it; it is a gift, because if we didn’t feel anything who can really say we are alive?

So, is it possible? Yes, but you have to want it bad enough. Bad enough to stop beating yourself down inside. Bad enough to scream and actually fight the demons you carry inside. If you don’t fight back they will beat you down, keeping you down, and changing you inside. We have all been given this wonderful gift of life. Does life itself have worth? Does living for another person have worth?

There comes a point when either a person gives in to the demons and completely wastes this gift of life, in doing so ruining a good thing because they see that life has beaten them down and they feel they have had it worse than everyone else. Or, they take this gift and run with it for the short amount of time that it lasts.

This is an old planet, human beings have been around for a long time. Countless millions, perhaps even upwards to a trillion since the dawn of humanity. People have always had it rough, but no one person has ever had it worse than everyone. We all as human beings share these emotions and hard times.

What are you worth? Do you matter? Do you make a difference being alive to other people?
Do you see that there is beauty in this life? Do you feel for other people? Are you sympathetic to the plight of another person or people. Do you have empathy? Do you want this world to be a better place? Do you want to bring joy to another person’s life?

All of those questions above have answers. If you can answer those questions you have worth. If you can’t answer those question, well…Why are you wasting space? Please check out and spare us all the pity-party. I have no time for it. I have seen people waste their lives away. Yeah, we all have demons. I have a few, but I’m not going to bend over for them. I don’t have the time anymore to beat myself down. We are all flawed people. We are flawed for a reason. The reason being we are all not perfect creations, nor should we be perfect creations. So, when it comes down to it. Either let the demons you carry around rape you, or, kill those motherfuckers one at a time and keep killing them.

Are you angry enough to want to live?

    • FOUR EYES says:

Hey, Bass!..How’s the mouth??..Saw DDS today to go thru it, too..*sigh*….8-)

      • BassFace says:

Finally got over the worst of the swelling today… still in a little pain, but now trying to avoid taking any further Oxycodone (even though it is mixed w/Tylenol it is still addictive!), just keeping my jaw iced-down. I did get the denture fitted yesterday, but that was during the worst of the swelling, so I’ll get it refitted on Monday.

What is the extent of your situation, 4E? Just the wisdom-teeth, or is it more than that?

        • FOUR EYES says:

Wisdoms long gone, some bone damage, but been nursing it along for a decade..Time’s up….8-)

        • FOUR EYES says:

Sorry, Bass..Tao is climbing all over me and I never finished..Took impressions today and discussed options..$$$$$..Ouch!!….8-)

          • BassFace says:

I’ve been lucky that it’s only been my lowers that were removed… the uppers have all been reasonably healthy though I had a couple of bad (& crooked) incisors that were replaced a couple of years ago by a dental-bridge (one extracted, the other ground into a post for the bridge), and I’m all set now with the uppers. The short-term suffering aside, I still have yet to feel the long-term effects of (& adjustments into) of using a denture, so in some respects I’m just as much “charting new territory” as you are/will be. Feelin’ for ya, dude!

            • FOUR EYES says:

I’m feelin’ for YOU, Bass!!..Going for full lowers first..learnin’ what to expect from your experience, buddy..I’m gonna get knocked out….8-)

    • msolomon2 says:

well of course, it goes without saying…

One time my brother and my youngest sister got in a fight (she had to be about 5 or 6, he was about 9 or 10). So the family is leaving for a weekend trip and we’re all in the car. My mother asked my brother to make sure the back door was locked. So he hops outta the car and runs out to the backyard to check the door. He comes back to the car in a fit and says he needs to get back in the house. My father is getting impatient and says no we’re leaving now!!

Apparently my sister took my brother’s GI Joe and hung it by the neck naked in his bedroom window. I laughed my ass off for days after that. My baby sister what a ball buster, she didn’t take shit from anyone, LOL
