Across The Universe: The Beatles

Funny, I was talking to my wife earlier today and she recalled that although she heard the name “Beatles” growing up she really did not know their music until she and her brother spent a  summer at her cousin  in  England when she was 13; what a sheltered childhood I thought.

Today our nieces and nephews know more about the Beatles then she did growing-up. Me? I have always listened to their music, there is nothing like it– it’s ethereal.

So what is your Beatles experience?

  1. What is going on in Florida. People getting killed for going out for Skittles, for texting during movie previews and now for playing “thug” music in their cars at a gas station…

Thank Mr. Butt Cyst Limpbaugh for lashing people into a froth – along with a few of his cohorts.

    • thedood says:

But…but…but…more guns is the answer! 🙄

Hi Haruko! Hope Pepe’s feeling better. I saw a woman spectator at a (pro) hockey game get hit right smack in the middle of her forehead by a puck that left the ice at a high rate of speed. Seems like a dangerous sport for everyone!

      • Oh, ouch, did they not have nets yet? They put nets around the rink to stop that from happening.

        • thedood says:

I guess not…it was a long time ago…I just remember watching it as it left the ice and ricocheted off that poor woman’s head…she was carried out on a stretcher! Looked like in slow motion but was really VERY fast…she was pretty high up in the stands too!

    • waverly says:

That’s Floriduh, either Republican Cuban exiles or Republican gun-toting redneck crackers. Been like that for as long as I can remember.

    • Ricki Lee says:

Hope they crucify this bastid!! We’re counting on it! Amazing, it came up for trial so fast tho – when we’re still waiting for our day. Makes my blood boil!

      • It was just a dad responding to a text from his daughter’s babysitter … during the PREVIEWS. Cannot believe that would send someone into a murderous rage.

        • Ricki Lee says:

A retired cop, no less!!!! And premeditated – since he left the theatre to get his gun! They should review his police record – wouldn’t be surprised if someone is sitting in prison because of him!

      • Er, I mean the theatre one.

This one was a bunch of kids in a car at a GAS STATION! You fill your tank and drive off! No harm done!

        • Ricki Lee says:

This happened here in Jax! I’ve been to that gas station many times as it’s close to The Avenues – a shopping mall. This guy left the scene! He was at a wedding/reception, where he was drinking, for his estranged son not far from me before he drove to the other side of town and attacked these teens. Like I said, I do hope the prosecutors nail him. If they don’t, we have a real problem here – same prosecutors who handled the Martin case. Angela Corey will have some serious explaining to do. Triple that with Marissa Alexander and the Hernandez boy – many of us think she has an issue with minorities and has no problem with throwing the book at them – even when not really justified.

I’ll be the light to guide you

Find out what we’re made of
When we are called to help out friends in need

You can count on me like one, two, three
    I’ll be there
And I know when I need it
I can count on you like four, three, two
    You’ll be there
Cause that’s what friends are supposed to do
    Oh yeah

Sure sign of SPRING, a young guy just rode by our house on his motercycle. My oldest brother worked as a mechanic a couple miles from my mother’s house, and would drive over for lunch. In March in MN he’d drive his 650 Kawasaki, (nearly frozen) with his Spring fever. Boys and their toys. My mother babysit my 4 yo nephew, and he would HELP lay out newspapers on the floor so my brother could walk to the kitchen table with greasy boots on, to save him time putting them off and on.That little Nephew adored his Uncle, and his motercycle. He came by it naturaly, when his mother was carrying him, they (both brothers) raced a stock car they worked on in his garage.I have a cute picture of the big pregnant mom in the mechanic’s coveralls.

Today I’m making spaghetti and cheesy garlic french bread, and a layered vanilla pudding with layers nilla waffers, and sliced banana. Yesterday we met up with friends at Ichibans, for a FEAST, good thing we had gift cards for a couple hundred bucks, we went through about 3/4th of it

    This is really interesting!!

AOL CEO who blamed cutting his employees benefits on Affordable Care Act and Babies before, now has reversed benefit cuts, and apologizes for ‘Distressed Babies’ comment.

AOL CEO Tim Armstrong announced Saturday that the company will reverse course on a controversial new 401(k) policy, a decision that followed an employee backlash against the change as well as comments he made while defending it.

    • This is the other part I love. He also claimed that they were cutting 401(k) benefits because of the ACA will cost AOL an extra $7 million a year. Their revenues last year were $2.3 billion. That ACA amount is 0.3 percent (not 3 percent, 0.3 percent) of their total revenues.
