How to honor the martyrs of Bloody Sunday

This week the nation recognizes the 49th anniversary of the Alabama government’s last-ditch effort to hold back justice at the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, Alabama.

On March 7, 1965, what came to be known as “Bloody Sunday,” hundreds of peaceful marchers, black and white, demanded that Alabama and the rest of the country enforce the 15th Amendment – the right to vote for black people. Many marchers were beaten by police.
A few months later, repulsed by the images of those beatings at the foot of the bridge, the nation passed the crown jewel of the civil rights movement – the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

Today we are experiencing a similar last-ditch effort, turned loose last summer after the Supreme Court gutted this same Voting Rights Act. For decades, the law protected Americans against unfair voting practices by requiring states with a history of discriminatory voting laws to submit all voting changes for federal review before they could be implemented. But the Supreme Court ended that requirement.

Within days of the Supreme Court’s decision, the North Carolina government took steps to pass the worst voter suppression law since 1964.
Voters of color may no longer have to face guns and water hoses while attempting to vote, but this current maze of changes to restrict voting rights are nonetheless the 21st century version of Jim Crow.

How many of you have heard of Aereo TV ???? Show of hands please. I’ve been waiting for this to grow outside NYC.

Rest assured that the Cable Companies will find a way to thwart this.

Aereo Wants To Cut Cable With Mini Antenna
USA TODAY’s Jefferson Graham gets the lowdown on Aereo’s controversial TV stream technology. http://www.usatoday.com/media/cinematic/video/6203441/aereo-wants-to-cut-cable-with-mini-antenna/

“controversial TV stream technology ???” Nothing controversial about it, except for the fact that it takes money out of the pockets of corporate cable companies.

The Data Brokers: Selling your personal information
Steve Kroft investigates the multibillion dollar industry that collects, analyzes and sells the personal information of millions of Americans with virtually no oversight

Over the past six months or so, a huge amount of attention has been paid to government snooping, and the bulk collection and storage of vast amounts of raw data in the name of national security. What most of you don’t know, or are just beginning to realize, is that a much greater and more immediate threat to your privacy is coming from thousands of companies you’ve probably never heard of, in the name of commerce.

I just finished watching 60 mins,,,all 3 segments were excellent,,but this one was the most interesting

corporate fascism at its finest, we are being bought an sold, they own us. How do you think the internet search engines like Google know what you’re looking for even before you know? They have huge databases of information at their immediate disposal. The NSA? DARPA? They have nothing on these international corporate maniacs. Only the banking industry wields more power.
