Been a while, but here’s a…. Cycling Update!!
1> The granddaddy of all Spring Classics, Paris-Roubaix in northern France, was won in spectacular fashion by Dutchman Niki Terpstra (Omega-Pharma / Quickstep) after a long solo-breakaway which was initially in support of his team-captain, the great Belgian rider Tom Boonen. but as the race came close to the finish Terpstra was still over a minute ahead so Boonen sacrificed his ambitions (as did his teammate & another race-fave, Zdenek Stybar) for a record fifth Paris-Roubaix victory in support for his young Dutch teammate out in front, checking attacks by other race-faces as defending 2013-winner Fabian Cancellara (Trek), Peter Sagan (Cannondale) and Sep Vanmarcke (Belkin). German sprinter/all-rounder John Degenkolb (Giant-Shimano) pipped Cancellara for 2nd & 3rd, respectively.
This race, called the “Hell of the North” as it transects through old WW1 trench-runs & battlefields, goes through some of the most treacherous cobbled-roads in all of Europe. The trophy, in fact, is a large cobblestone from one of those roads.
Hi, BassFace. I’ve been trying to ride more. Did nine days in a row at 40 miles each. Four more days to go then I gotta head north.
I’ve been sick with bad allergies all weekend, no riding this weekend for me, hopefully next weekend.
Awesome job, Orcas!!
On the mountain-nbike front…

FLASH- From the Streets of Milwaukee
“A few days ago, Kristin Karpinski was driving in Shorewood near the intersection of Oakland Avenue and Capitol Drive. Suddenly, near Sendik’s, traffic stopped and Karpinski was concerned that someone had been hit by a car.
“But then, three people ran across the road, super crazy-like. It looked like they were being chased by someone or something,” she says.
Karpinski then saw a large turkey running swiftly behind the people and appeared to be chasing them.
“It was the biggest turkey I have ever seen and it was chasing them across the road,” she says. “And, even better, the turkey was being herded by an old lady in a motorized scooter.”
