  1. It turns out the Ravens president had the video of Ray Rice. Did he offer it to the NFL? Did the NFL ask him for it? Cover-up!

    http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/09/19/espn-reports-makes-it-clear-cass-knew-contents-of-video/related/

    • Strip them of their ‘non-profit’ tax status. That was a sleazy deal run through by a couple of southern senators back in 1966. The Saints were admitted to ted to the NFL in exchange for the league’s ‘non-profit’ status.
      Disgusting.

      • That’s like 1 out of the 173 problems with the NFL. 😀

        • msolomon2 says:

I saw a guy talking about the most recent problems last week, he said the nfl is like the essence of murica. It’s way too loud, way too violent, etc, etc… Had to agree. And yes these tax-breaks should be stripped, it’s obscene. As they should from the corporates, etc…

Good news! I worked on my budget, bounced some numbers around, and figured out how to afford the puter clean-up. He says call him Monday after 8 a.m. He’ll need to keep it 1-2 days.

    • classicalgastoo says:

Hiya, Gramma – good news! That sounds like a nasty one, glad you can get it dealt with.

      • Hobette says:

Me, too! I hope I can trust this guy. After I get it back from him I’ll change all my passwords, just to be sure.

    • Oh, good. I was reading up on this Conduit. What a pain.

      • Hobette says:

I get so scared about this kind of thing, and then angry. My biggest question is how did I get a virus when I paid Avast all that $ to protect me from viruses?!?! That’s when I feel duped. WTF did I give them my money for??? I still have over 9 months left on it, and not only did the virus get past it, but the virus turned the Avast off and made it impossible to turn back on.

        • Darth says:

It can still happen, I’ve gotten a couple. One kept giving me casino pop ups I couldn’t close, thankfully I was able to have the infectious kernel removed. I got a far worse one later, ruined two fans in my PC and had to get a new one. I changed security suites after that. I use Kaspersky anti-virus now. Haven’t had any problems with it so far.

          • Hobette says:

I’ve never heard of Kaspersky. Does it offer malware, spyware, and/or tracking protection as well? How long have you had it?

            • Darth says:

They’re pretty much the largest IT security firm in the world, but based outside of the US and not as heavily marketed here as its competitors like, say, McAfee or Norton. So far I haven’t had any problems in just over 3 years. Any decent, basic anti-virus program will have most of the stuff you’re asking about, the question is how effective is it. I had an expensive security suite and still managed to get a really nasty virus that bypassed it completely on my old PC, but no system is perfect. It’s basically a game of whack a mole with wickedly smart moles always trying to find a new way to get in.

They have many different security packages but I just go with basic anti-virus and supplement with free add ons like Ghostery, adblock, stuff like that. The anti-tracking stuff you can get for free and does the same job if you configure it right. Then I’ll run malwarebytes once in a while but it has never found anything on this PC that Kaspersky didn’t zap, which frankly I find amazing. But like I said, no system is perfect, these things happen sometimes. I don’t go for the big packages with all the bells and whistles anymore because many are too restrictive, slow down my internet and are not that much more effective than a decent, basic protection package from my experience–so long as I don’t do anything really stupid. 🙄 Here’s a link with an editors review, it will give you a lot more specific information. http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2460689,00.asp

Be aware that there is a difference between the anti-virus and the Internet security package, this goes for many other companies as well. I use the basic anti-virus, it’s a lot cheaper. The internet security suite has more features added on and more protections but is also much more expensive and you may not need/want them all, but that’s up to you. This is a good comparison chart to compare what both services do compared to others. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_antivirus_software

There it is in all it’s corporate-fascist obscenity! I disagree with the misleading title though as I don’t believe “we” did this thing to ourselves, it was done by a concerted effort of the worst excuse for human-beings, the psychopathic 1%ers and corporates.

    Hi and bye.

Out for a ride to see the changing Aspens – laterz!

  6. waverly says:

Good Saturday evening to all dwellers of the Realm world. Actually got to do my laundry in my new place today as well as had the new carpet “green cleaned” today. How is everyone this evening? I see Classy Kat when out for a Fall drive to look at leaves. So nice. 🙂 And as for Mr. Hole, did he ever get his laptop repaired today? The epic saga of the broken Mac continues.

    • Hobette says:

I thought you had new carpet installed ?

      • waverly says:

I had it “rinced” with a natural disinfectant, as new carpet tends to wreak of chemical odor. Also tomorrow I will be cleaning my tile floors myself with a 10% solution of food grade hydrogen peroxide and water. I am sensitive to chemicals and chemical smells. They make me ill, so I try to go “green” as much as possible. It tends to make me a healthier and happier person.

        • Hobette says:

What do you hope to accomplish with the hydrogen peroxide? When is hydrogen peroxide used for food? How do they make it “food grade?”
Sorry so many questions, but this all new to me, and I have problems with that, too.

          • waverly says:

I got the information about cleaning the tiles from the carpet guy today. Cause they do tile as well and he told me that’s what they use. Food grade means it’s straight H2O2 without any other crap in it. You can get it at most health food stores. The benefits of hydrogen peroxide have been known for a while in the healthy living community. It is more difficult if not impossible for disease to grow in an oxygen rich environment. Which using hydrogen peroxide provides. You can look it up online, there is abundant information out there on its uses.

            • Hobette says:

Interesting. Thanks, Wave, I’ll look it up! I have a heck of a time with cleaning products! I’ll bet my houseplants help me more than I realized.

  7. Hobette says:

Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh! It figures a t-storm would come by and knock out my satellite for the last minutes of the PBS Roosevelt series. I’ve watched each episode 1-5, but this was episode 6. Excellent program! Luckily, it reruns at 9:00. Hopefully the storms will die off. 🙄
BTW, I think Bernie Sanders channels Eleanor .

  8. waverly says:

Kelsey scans the wall of T-shirts in Five Below, one of the few stores to qualify as “quirky” in this conservative part of western Michigan. “Let’s Have a Party,” a shirt reads, near displays of body glitter and $5 leggings. “Warning: Prone to Shenanigans,” reads another, and after less than a minute, it’s clear the store doesn’t have what Kelsey is looking for, because no place ever does, at least not around here.

“I think I might have to make you a gay shirt,” Kelsey’s friend Kahri offers as they walk out of the store. “Or not a gay shirt, but — you know.”

    “Yeah.”

What Kelsey Beckham really wants is a shirt that communicates something very specific about its wearer. Not about gayness, or anything to do with sexual orientation, but about gender. A shirt that says the wearer is something many people aren’t familiar with: Not a he. Not a she. Not a male transitioning to a female, or a female transitioning to a male. A shirt explaining that Kelsey, 18, doesn’t identify with any gender at all.

Kelsey’s gender identity is “non-binary.” Or, “agender.” It’s what Kelsey feels comfortable with, even though the world keeps insisting, in a million little ways, that Kelsey has to choose. Like the OkCupid profile some friends are always suggesting Kelsey create online. When Kelsey looked at the matchmaking site’s opening screen, it presented an immediate problem: “I am a [male/female].”

    • Hobette says:

      So what did Kelsey get?

      • Hobette says:

        I guess Wave’s keeping us in suspenders…….

      • waverly says:

Sorry I forgot the link http://wapo.st/1u9SQtT

        • classicalgastoo says:

Very interesting article, wave – I appreciate you posting it.

I remember back in the 60’s I read an interview with someone from the Kinsey Institute in which the comment was made that there are probably as many actual sexes as there are human beings. He posited that each individual has a unique balance of whatever mixture of chemicals it is that makes us who we are.

          • waverly says:

As I was going through my teen years I wanted to be a girl to attract boys because I liked boys. But then I couldn’t identify with any of the things that girls liked. Still can’t. Except for sports I always seem to identify with the stuff guys are talking about. I was not interested in child rearing discussions because from age 9 to my mid teems I was my mothers live-in nanny, been there done that, not interested.

    • waverly says:

See I’m not the only one. Remember when I first came to the Realm and refused to identify my gender. This is why. I fit neither. I am what is referred to as gender fluid.

  9. Well I’ve decided to become Don Quixote.

Next week I’m taking charge, like I always challenge others, and fighting the system—yep I’m taking it to the streets.

  10. Hobette says:

    Goodnight now!

  11. waverly says:

Ok,where is the rest of the hip Realmster crowd that’s usually here later than I can stay up? Where is everyone? Come out come out wherever you are …

  12. Ok I’m almost finished writing my plan.
