“Femininity is part of the God-given divinity within each of you. It is your incomparable power and influence to do good. You can, through your supernal gifts, bless the lives of children, women, and men. Be proud of your womanhood. Enhance it. Use it to serve others.”

~James E. Faust

The guitar community got a little smaller today. I got a call letting me know that our friend SW has lost his dance with cancer. Steve was a great guitarist, a kick ass drummer, a guitar store owner, but mostly a beautiful human being.
He took a bunch of us on a little tour of the everglades. He taught us a lot about ‘gator behavior. The time we spent with him was the best part of that trip to Miami. We also shared a stage at the Montreal Guitar Festival, playing at the luthier’s party.
Godspeed my friend. You go on ahead and I’ll catch up.

    Oh, you’ll love this…

In Florida, officials ban term ‘climate change’ http://www.miamiherald.com/news/state/florida/article12983720.html

DEP officials have been ordered not to use the term “climate change” or “global warming” in any official communications, emails, or reports, according to former DEP employees, consultants, volunteers and records obtained by the Florida Center for Investigative Reporting.

The policy goes beyond semantics and has affected reports, educational efforts and public policy in a department with about 3,200 employees and $1.4 billion budget.

“We were told not to use the terms ‘climate change,’ ‘global warming’ or ‘sustainability,’” said Christopher Byrd, an attorney with the DEP’s Office of General Counsel in Tallahassee from 2008 to 2013. “That message was communicated to me and my colleagues by our superiors in the Office of General Counsel.”

Un fucking real that they tell you what words you can and cannot use. What happened to of speech ? Have we no building blocks left from the foundation of this country ?

      • waverly says:

        Freedom of speech (sheeeesh)

You obviously have strong feelings on this Wave 😉

        • Darth says:

The first amendment only applies to governmental restrictions on speech, but you have a definite point. Does that also apply to government employees in their capacity to carry out their duties on behalf of the state? I’m not so sure. But off duty they can definitely talk to the press, and that is apparently what former DEP employees did. Scott’s administration tried to hide this “unwritten policy”, naturally they would.

        Nope.

The epitome of a Know Nothing Governor wishing to whiiste past the graveyard and ignore reality. Big question is just how many voters in Florida might agree with him; either out of ignorance, self interest or just plain old fashioned political blindness?

    • Classical Gas says:

They’re certifiably insane – there’s no other conclusion I can reach.

      • Darth says:

Certifiably corrupt if you ask me. Some people will do anything to advance themselves, even to their own detriment. So a little insane too? Yeah, maybe.

brings a new level to the corporate-fascism….

“Asked about the open letter of 47 US Senators to Iranian leaders, the Iranian Foreign Minister, Dr. Javad Zarif, responded that “in our view, this letter has no legal value and is mostly a propaganda ploy. It is very interesting that while negotiations are still in progress and while no agreement has been reached, some political pressure groups are so afraid even of the prospect of an agreement that they resort to unconventional methods, unprecedented in diplomatic history.”
I agree with the Foreign Minster. This is just a plot to once more put the POTUS down. They don’t want him to accomplish anything in his last years. He probably won’t get a good agreement but give him a chance. These people are evil. God help us if we get a Republican in the WH.

    I co-sign this:
“In Wisconsin we have a culture of taking care of each other – from building barns and plowing fields with and for our neighbors to cooking casseroles and watching each others children – we reach out embrace our friends and neighbors as our family. We should expect nothing less from our elected officials – rather what we are seeing this legislative session are decisions being made with, for and by out of state corporate special interest groups rather than with the Wisconsin values that we grew up with.”….8-)
