Why America Ferrera Is Saying ‘Thank You!’ to Donald Trump

Actress and activist America Ferrera joined the growing ranks of Donald Trump opponents today, arguing in an online missive that the real estate mogul’s recent comments about Latinos are backfiring.

“I heard what you said about the kind of people you think Latino immigrants are — people with problems, who bring drugs, crime and rape to America. While your comments are incredibly ignorant and racist, I don’t want to spend my time chastising you,” she wrote in a piece published on the Huffington Post. “Instead, I’m writing to say thank you!”

In the letter, the former “Ugly Betty” star added: “What you just did with your straight talk was send more Latino voters to the polls than several registration rallies combined!”

‘Grassroots movement working’: Bernie Sanders gains on the Clinton machine | US news | The Guardian

What began as a progressive pipe dream – that a rabble-rousing senator from the nation’s second least populous state could wrest the Democratic presidential nomination from one of the most well-known politicians in recent history – is starting to seem plausible.

By way of massive rallies, grassroots politicking and a record-setting number small donations, Vermont senator Bernie Sanders is winning over progressive voters, convincing them that his underdog campaign has a fighting chance against Hillary Clinton’s well-oiled – and extraordinarily well-funded – political machine.

I was listening to the radio this morning in the car, the topic was July 4th Independence day, it turns out, independence was only decided on, on July 2nd, the papers were not signed until August 2nd, and the papers only arrived in Britain in Nov, so really it seems you have been celebrating the wrong date, it should be August, surely?

Today I met a gentleman of the Ho-Chunk (Winnebago) Nation. I asked him, “so when do your people get your ‘Independence Day’?” I learned they don’t celebrate July 4, they celebrate Mitchell Red Cloud Jr. Day, on July 2. We had a great conversation.

Well wife got out early, so we’re heading over to DUMBO. Wave the Bernie page was for later–I need to come up with a good series for the man. Have fun—I bet you’ll all bail out anyway, save me a turkey burger and tofu for the wifey.
