Be As You Are

 

Funny as I write this it was maybe  two hours ago that I was talking to a dear friend and during the course of the conversation,  I said “just be yourself.”

Just minutes ago I was looking on the old Realm pages for a video I had posted before ( something in some Eastern European Language about a cute little girl running away with her teddy bear–reminds me of the early rugrat years)  and found a video by Mike Posner, re-posted at the tail end of this post, that at the time cracked me up because of the “DOUCHE FACTOR”, Posner , to me, seemed like a poseur  ( Ok, it had nice looking ladies) and the music too “pop” but I liked his singing voice so I listened.

Never gave it much thought just when I found it today, but I decided to look if he had slipped into obscurity as I have never hear from him again.  I can say that “Be as you are” has incredible depth, it shows growth and the scars that come with age but most importantly self-awareness.  It all brought me back to the days when I thought being a bitting, foul mouth  online poster was more important than the words or the message I was trying to convey.

Now I’m ok being “Jack” not just jackhole, I’m ok having this forum being smaller but honest. I guess, Mike and I have taken a similar paths. I wish his takes him to a better place.
