Happy Year Of The Monkey

What a Year of the Monkey Is

The Monkey is ninth of the 12 animals in the recurring 12-year Chinese zodiac cycle. Every 12 years there is a Monkey year. (Interestingly, Monkey years are all multiples of 12 — from 12 AD, through 1200 AD, to now in 2016.)

2016 Is a Fire Monkey Year — What ”Fire Monkey” Means

In Chinese astrology, each year is associated with a Chinese zodiac animal sign and one the Five Elements: Gold (Metal), Water, Wood, Fire, or Earth. Both the sign and element of your birth year are said to affect your personality and destiny. Element-sign combinations recur every 60 years.

Oh when they will ever learn ?

“An American actor and designer said he was barred from boarding a plane in Mexico on Monday for a flight home to New York because he refused to remove his turban during a security check.

The actor, Waris Ahluwalia, who follows the Sikh religion and wears a turban, said he checked in at the Aeroméxico counter at Mexico City’s international airport about 5:30 a.m. and was given his first-class boarding pass with a code that he said meant he needed secondary security screening.”

When TROLLMP is president he will put a wall around Aeroméxico. Ignorant, hateful, monsters can’t tell who is a muslim so they target a “LOOK”—Mexico City has a huge Mexican-Lebanese population a large part Muslim.

Some of their biggest stars Selma Hayek, corporatist Carlos Slim Helú have muslim roots.

Obama radiates an ethos of integrity, humanity, good manners and elegance that I’m beginning to miss, and that I suspect we will all miss a bit, regardless of who replaces him.

Why Clinton’s feminist pitch is not working in New Hampshire – The Washington Post

Former secretary of state Clinton and her allies are making increasingly overt — and clumsy — appeals to feminist solidarity as she struggles with Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont in her battle for the Democratic nomination.

“Not everybody views voting as a statement of their identities,” Democratic pollster Anna Greenberg said. Younger women in particular, she said, have “a desire for a transformative figure, and [Clinton] doesn’t embody that.

Hillary Clinton Helped UBS Avoid the IRS—and Then Bill Clinton Got Paid $1.5 Million to Speak at Events for the Swiss Bank – The Atlantic

Any suggestions that Hillary Clinton was driven by anything but what’s in America’s best interest would be false. Period,” a campaign spokesman told The Guardian. Oh, come on. Clinton may well have thought that intervening on behalf of UBS was good for the U.S. There are reports that the Swiss helped our government in various ways in exchange for shielding the bank from a worst-case scenario.

But this campaign flak cannot possibly know––or expect us to take on faith––that Clinton was not at all influenced by knowledge that acting to benefit the bank could mean seven figures for her family and more for their foundation, whereas advocating against the bank would more than likely eliminate the chance of either. Any normal person would be influenced, if only in spite of themselves, unless they resolved from the beginning that having made a decision in government that directly affected a corporation, they’d never take money from it later even if it offered.

It is a discredit to Bill and Hillary Clinton that they behave as if they believe otherwise.
Why are they indulged in doing so?

Democrats are hurtling toward a farce. The coalition that insists on the corrupting effect of Citizens United and the unlimited campaign contributions it permits is poised to nominate a couple that has seen riches flow from big banks to their personal accounts.

Even Democrats who aren’t concerned about the agenda of Big Finance ought to ask themselves if America is best served by a president and first spouse who care so little about preserving the confidence that the public can reasonably have in the integrity of their actions. They are far from the only members of our elite who’ve put a payday ahead of the common good, but it’s hard to think of a more flagrant example.

      • waverly says:

To my knowledge there are only two primary elections taking place in New Hampshire right now. One is for the GOP, the other is for the Dems. I have not heard of any independent party primary races in New Hampshire today.

Reporting from New Hampshire, the Guardian’s DC bureau chief Dan Roberts asked a few young Granite State voters why they’re supporting Bernie Sanders. The consensus: His progressivism seems legit.

New Hampshire’s New Voter-ID Law Could Lead to Longer Lines, Voter Intimidation | The Nation

New Hampshire is one of 16 states with new voting restrictions in place for the first presidential election cycle in 2016, according to the Brennan Center for Justice, accounting for 178 electoral votes. New Hampshire voters will be asked to show government-issued ID when they cast a ballot. Those without the required ID can still cast a regular ballot by signing an affidavit, but they will have to let poll workers take their pictures, which is raising alarms among voting-rights activists.

    Outside-the-Beltway

With voters heading to the polls in New Hampshire since early this morning, and some having already voted in small hamlets like Dixville Notch, where Bernie Sanders and John Kasich ended up pulling off the big but largely symbolic wins shortly after midnight, it can be said that the 2016 campaign for President feels like it has officially begun.

Yes, we heard from voters in Iowa last week, but in many ways the New Hampshire primary has always felt more like the traditional beginning of the quadrennial race for the White House, in no small part because it is the first time that voters actually have a chance to head to the polls rather than participating in an arcane caucus system.

More importantly, even though it is hardly representatives of the nation as a whole, it’s clear that New Hampshire voters take their role in the process seriously. Between Democrats and Republicans, it is expected that more than 60% of New Hampshire’s eligible voters will turn out to vote today, a sharp contract to the less than 20% of voters who, on average, participate in the Iowa Caucuses.
