Make DC Open Carry!

A few days ago while talking to Tí0 over our frustration that nothing is being done by congress to stop the proliferation and accessibility, not  just to handguns but assault weapons, I made reference to the cowardice of our elected officials–mainly Republicans–In failing to stand-up to the gun lobby.

Senators are addicts of campaign contributions to the point that the Newton massacre of children, I really thought that would have made a difference, was just a passing moment of outrage. Just less than two weeks after the Orlando Nightclub Shooting, America’s the deadliest mass shooting by a single gunman, Congress is at it again protecting the interest of the gun lobby rather than American lives.

I’m fairly certain that these PRO-GUN pseudo patriot Senators would quake in their boots at the sight of an American armed to the teeth, in accordance to their second amendment right to have guns—wink* wink*, so I think if DC suddenly became an Open Carry district attitudes towards gun may change. Let’s see the bastards live up to their convictions— MAKE DC OPEN CARRY!

I’ll work on a petition to this end; of course given the gun lunacy it’s satire.  Nothing but a Brand New congress will change things.   http://brandnewcongress.org/home

“If we ever want to address poverty and inequality in America, we need to start with housing—most people’s greatest expense. A new report quantifies just how devastating our affordable housing shortage has become.

Harvard’s Joint Center for Housing Studies has issued its “State of the Nation’s Housing” report. The most remarkable findings: more than 36% of U.S. households are now renting, a level not seen in 50 years. The rental market is the tightest it’s been in three decades. Driven by the Great Recession, which pushed millions of people out of their homes and constrained the incomes of millions more, the rental market is now the tightest it’s been in three decades. And for those not in the top half of the income distribution, the economic burden of housing is growing ever more crippling.”

Morning, things not good here, £ is tanking, other EU countries now looking for an “in/out” referendum, this is the beginning of the end for the EU, hopefully there will be another Independence referendum soon in Scotland, all depends on what the Scottish Labour party does, some of their senior members indicated they would back independence if the UK was taken out of the EU.
Ireland also voted to stay in and now they are talking leaving the UK.
    What a fucking mess!
We will go into recession soon, Mr Fi is going around this morning like a bear with a sore head.
    FUCKING TORIES!
Some of the Tories are on the box this morning saying “we all need to unite now”………………….WTF!

Robert Reich’s take on the situation:

“The Great Recession has led to the Great Stall in the United States and Europe – an era of declining incomes and lost jobs, mounting economic fears, and growing distrust of economic elites and of the moves toward global integration they’ve long championed. Some of the symptoms:

    — Brexit – today’s vote in Britain about whether to exit the European Union.

    — Nationalist movements across Europe, including, at the extreme, Austria’s far right Freedom Party (which came within a percentage point of winning the presidency in April) and Marine Le Pen’s National Front in France.

    — Donald Trump’s fierce rightwing xenophobia against immigrants, Mexicans, and Muslims.

    — Declining support for international agreements of all kinds, including trade.

Economic elites in the United States and Europe bear much of the responsibility. They’ve turned their backs on the economic distresses felt by most of their fellow citizens, and have rigged the economic rules to their benefit. (One example: The Trans Pacific Partnership, which would enrich the biggest corporations and remove health and safety protections for most working people.)

The real choice ahead may be the kind of isolationism and authoritarianism that marked the 1930s and 1940s, or else fundamental economic reforms that increase prosperity for all.”

That’s it right there. Throw in the economic component and it’s a toxic brew.

Yellow for remain, blue for leave.

    • Darth says:

That is mind-boggling. I was reading about the demographics of the pro-leave camp, it read like a Trump rally.
