The Season Of Color

Autumn Fires by Robert Louis Stevenson

In the other gardens
And all up the vale,
From the autumn bonfires
See the smoke trail!

Pleasant summer over
And all the summer flowers,
The red fire blazes,
The grey smoke towers.

Sing a song of seasons!
Something bright in all!
Flowers in the summer,
Fires in the fall!

    missed it by that much!

“Anyhow,” declared Captain Smith, “the Olympic is unsinkable, and the Titanic will be the same when she is put in commission.”Why,” he continued, “either of these vessels could be cut in halves and each half would remain afloat indefinitely. The non-sinkable vessel has been reached in these two wonderful craft.”

“I venture to add,” concluded Captain Smith, “that even if the engines and boilers of these vessels were to fall through their bottoms the vessels would remain afloat.”

I’m drinking low sodium V8. It’s not half bad after you get used to it. But I got the “spicy hot” kind. I’m a madman.

“I am tired of all this sort of thing called science here… We have spent millions in that sort of thing for the last few years, and it is time it should be stopped.”
-Simon Cameron, U.S. Senator, on the Smithsonian Institution, 1901.

“Cameron gave his support to Abraham Lincoln, and became his Secretary of War. He only served a year before resigning amidst corruption. Cameron became the minister to Russia during the Civil War, but was overseas for less than a year. He again served in the Senate, eventually being succeeded by his son, J. Donald Cameron, and only resigned from the Senate upon confirmation that his son would succeed him. Cameron built a powerful state party machine that would dominate Pennsylvania politics long after his death.”

How to block Police car dashcams.

    • Sub Jack says:

That practice along with them crowding around a suspect they are detaining to keep people from recording them should lead to fines and imprisonment—again I ask, where is the “GOOD COP” outrage?

      • fancykat says:

I agree there should be good cop outrage. The bad ones make all look bad Jack.

        • Sub Jack says:

I’m beginning to think there are no good cops, just cop that aren’t as bad as the real bad ones. My police academy captain uncle would kick those bums out the force.

      • MSolomon2 says:

bad “culture” amongst those kind… been building for a long-time this us-against-them instead of the old to protect-and-serve. I largely blame all the militarizing of them that’s been ongoing for what decades now? If you weight them down with all the military hardware, indoctrinate them to military ways of thinking is it any surprise when they turn out with the “culture” of being at war against the people…?
