Happy 4/20

Medicinal or recreational, Cannabis; Marijuana, Mary Jane, Burnie, Reefer, Weed, Pot, Ganga, Chronic… well you get it.  Legalization has become a fight between the citizens and the  Prohibitionist government that is dead set on ignoring the medicinal benefits and ignores the revenue from legalizing this very sustainable crop. Hopefully science and the will of the people will prevail.

Naked mole rats weirder than we realised: without oxygen, they live like plants http://www.smh.com.au/environment/conservation/naked-mole-rats-weirder-than-we-realised-without-oxygen-they-live-like-plants-20170421-gvp9uu.html
“If you take away a mouse’s oxygen, the mouse will die within 20 seconds. If you take away a naked mole rat’s oxygen, though, it will be fine for up to 18 minutes.

The East African critters do not get tumours. They’re immune to types of chronic pain and the irritant in chili peppers. They live like social insects, in 300-strong underground colonies where a mole rat queen gives birth to worker children (the offspring themselves will never bear young).”

“Though the mole rats are mammals, they do not regulate their body temperature internally – they are “cold-blooded”, so to speak, in the manner of frogs.

“Mice live a maximum of three years. Old Man, the world’s oldest mole rat, died at 32.”

“And naked mole rats thrive in oxygen-poor air, even at levels that would be lethal to mice or humans. If the naked mole rats behave like a strange medley of wrinkled rodent, termite and toad, throw vegetable into that mix, too. When oxygen is scarce, as scientists reported in the journal Science, on Thursday, the mole rats switch their energy source from glucose – what humans and virtually all other mammals use – to fructose. That’s the sugar that plants use.”

Well since I’m drained and cannot switch on the metabolic process to produce fructose, I’m just going to say, Nite youses.

“Gaylord Anton Nelson (June 4, 1916 – July 3, 2005) was an American politician from Wisconsin who served as a United States Senator and governor. A Democrat, he was the founder of Earth Day, which launched a new wave of environmental activism.” ~wiki

Democracy’s dyin’, who’s got the will? What France’s election tells us about the state of modern discontent
With the left facing disarray and defeat amid a new age of revolution, it’s time to ask: Is democracy over?
dark-and-terrible-times are sweeping the “1st” world, the “western” “democratic” world…

Michael Moore: ‘Ignorance leads to fear, fear leads to hate. Trump knew that’

The Oscar-winning documentary film-maker discussed the president and the continuing relevance of Bowling for Columbine at the Tribeca film festival

Ironically, Moore points out the reasons for Trump’s election and the lack of action concerning gun violence are the results of the same problem. “I think the equation is simple,” he explained. “It’s the American equation. Dumb down the population and make them ignorant and stupid. Ignorance leads to fear, fear leads to hate. Trump knew that part of the equation really well. And hate leads to violence.”
