Viva le albinos nain por. . .nevermind wrong topic.
In France there’s this little election. A macaroni and a pen are facing each other in a run-off election. Prediction: People will dump massive amounts of escargot in the ocean, there will be a run on baguette, the guillotine will return to rue de la roquette, people will burn Berets and stripy shirts. . .hopefully they’ll permanently ban mimes –well we should all be in support of the mime ban no matter political ideologies we subscribe to.
Well that’s how the average right-winger might think of the French election, There are certain commonalities between the US 2016 general elections and the French run off; mainly in the political ideologies of the candidates, the independent centrist, economically liberal, socially progressive Emmanuel Macron is economically liberal, socially progressive, and the far-right’s isolationist, protectionist, Marine Le Pen that threatens leaving the EU.
But what should be of interest to Americans and more importantly, countries facing a strong resurgence of the far right; is that although Macron is the most likely to win, the extremist support Le Pen has forced ( also like in the US low turnout at the polls) this run-off election.
France is an informal barometer of things to come–remember that in the US HER could not lose right?
