I don’t have to tell you guys here, but the world is headed for climactic disaster.Severe, storms, ocean levels rising, etc .Governments have their collective heads up their asses. It is all about money of course. They will rebuild Texas and Florida.I doubt that they will help off shore in Peurto Rico or the other Islands.
They may bring in some new building codes, but it will only be a bandaid. There is no political will for real solutions.

exactly! this is where our neo-feudal corporate-fascism leads us and nowhere else!

    • Darth says:

Real solutions? Maybe 20 or 30 years ago they could have mitigated it somehow, if they had the will, like they did with the hole in the ozone; with drastic, immediate reductions in CFC’s, worldwide. Full stop. But there’s no stopping the freight train now, because it’s happening right now. The permafrost is already melting and the methane trapped within is thirty times as strong a greenhouse gas as anything a car or a factory could bletch out. There’s a tipping point, you see. Those “solutions” are the bandaids, they make people feel good but they are minuscule in impact and scope. Humanity is arguing over the most effective way to jerk off. Right hand or left?

Q…What the fuck is wrong with most republicans in government? It must take a certain kind of a sense of entitlement and a dogged belief in their own self worth that allows them to consider people who struggle everyday as not important as them, and more importantly, their money men.
How else can one explain their total disregard of the cost of the misery this latest insult of a bill will bring? There is a reckoning coming,John McCain is the point of the spear.
Trump will surely not last his first term.America will be better for it.Pence is not guilt free either.Brace yourselves my friends

Oh, the eternal consolations of France, how satisfying they are. I am always happy when I am reminded of them.

The headline on the New York Times story was “Trump Threatens to ‘Totally Destroy’ North Korea.” In a Facebook comment about the piece, there was this laconic response from one Martina Vialard to the threatened apocalypse: “Il ne fera rien,” or “He will do nothing.”

There it is: the immortal, the inimitable French shrug, expression of the wisdom of a people who has seen it all and refuses to be rattled by hyperbole, seduced by blandishment or surprised by folly.

The purest expression of this shrug lies in the word “bof.” It conveys the contemptuous French dismissal of, say, a politician’s affair, and is the best retort I know to the hyperventilating, nasty outrage that has become the lingua franca of the social media age.

“Bof, c’est normal” — it’s normal, people more often reveal their weaknesses than discover the better angels of their nature. Trump — he of the small hands — dreams of a gigantic mushroom cloud. Normal, get used to it.

Trump, of course, is not a normal president. He called Kim a “madman”; he should know. So I am happy that the European leader with whom Trump seems to have the strongest rapport is Macron, who can bring his country’s wisdom on “the human basics” to bear on Trump’s wild leanings. French antennae for the normal are also useful in detection of the abnormal.

Once upon a time I took a cab from Paris’s Charles de Gaulle Airport and got stuck in traffic. It was a gorgeous morning, clear sky, spring in the air. I remarked on the beauty of the day to the driver. He turned to me and said:

“Bof, ça ne va pas durer, Monsieur,” – yeah, it won’t last, Sir. Nor will Trump. Il ne fera rien.

“The Divje Babe Flute is a cave bear femur pierced by spaced holes that was found in 1995 at the Divje Babe archeological park located near Cerkno in northwestern Slovenia. It has been suggested that it was made by Neanderthals as a form of musical instrument, its hole spacing and alignment leading to its being labeled a “Neanderthal flute”. Slovenian archeologist Mitja Brodar, however, argues that it was made by Cro-Magnons as an element of Central European Aurignacian culture. A form of flute, it is possibly the world’s oldest known musical instrument. Despite alternative hypotheses suggesting it was formed by animals, the artifact remains on prominent public display in the National Museum of Slovenia in Ljubljana as a Neanderthal flute.”

How the Directors of ‘Loving Vincent’ Created the World’s First Painted Feature Film https://news.artnet.com/art-world/new-loving-vincent-film-literally-paints-a-picture-of-the-tortured-artists-final-days-1091630
“Six years ago, Dorota Kobiela and Hugh Welchman hatched a crazy idea: to create the world’s first painted feature film. The subject? The final days of Vincent Van Gogh.”

“The total number of paintings required to create the hour-and-a-half-long film is staggering. Each shot was translated into one painting—though some longer shots involved multiple canvases—which the artists updated frame by frame according to the action in the shot.

To capture changing backgrounds, facial expressions, and movement, each canvas was re-painted an average of 76 times. Between them, the artists executed a total of 65,000 frames in oil paint.”

Nursing Home Voicemail to Governor Deleted http://miami.cbslocal.com/2017/09/22/nursing-home-deaths-deleted-voicemails/
“Hollywood (CBSMiami) – The voicemail messages left on Gov. Rick Scott’s personal cellphone by a Hollywood nursing home where at least 11 people have died following Hurricane Irma, were deleted, according to the governor’s office.

There were a total of four voicemails left during the 36 hours before the first patient died, and they would have been a critical piece of evidence in the ongoing investigation into the patient deaths.

Natasha Anderson, a vice president with The Rehabilitation Center at Hollywood Hills, says she called the governor’s cellphone to say the nursing home needed “immediate assistance” in restoring the power to their air conditioning system.”

In the week leading up to Irma, Gov. Scott held a series of conference calls with emergency managers as well as hospital and nursing home officials. During those conference calls he gave out his cellphone number and said if any of the healthcare centers experienced trouble they should call him at that number and he would work to resolve their problem.”

This whole issue is just the essence of Murica today, (so-called) government in collusion with the neo-feudals & corporates AGAINST The People. These SCUM need to be EXECUTED for their crimes.
