Stand Up To The Wall Street Lobby
The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is the nation’s only financial agency completely devoted to consumer protection. Since 2011, it has served as an effective watchdog over unfair practices in financial products and services, such as mortgages, student loans, and credit cards. The CFPB is protecting students, seniors, service members and the rest of us, too.

Wall Street, which opposed the creation of the CFPB, is now doubling down on its efforts to weaken it.

Tell Congress to stand up to Wall Street and protect the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

Every spring, Spanish hunters kill thousands of healthy dogs — and the owners are not brought to justice because hunting dogs are under Spanish laws classified as “working labor” and not as pets.

Please sign the petition before dogs are killed this spring to demand the government protect these animals.
Owners kill their hunting dogs when they “embarrass” their owners by losing races. They are deemed no longer useful and their owners no longer want to feed them.

Stand with Senators Sanders, Warren, and Brown: President Obama must release full text of TPP
In a letter to the president, Senators Warren and Brown wrote:

The American people should be allowed to weigh in on the facts of the TPP before Members of Congress are asked to voluntarily reduce our ability to amend, shape, or block any trade deal. The press and the public should be allowed to examine the details that corporate executives and lobbyists have already been allowed to influence for years. Members of Congress should be able to discuss the agreement with our constituents and to participate in a robust public debate instead of being muzzled by classification rules. Before Congress votes to facilitate the adoption of the TPP, the American public should be allowed to see for themselves whether it's good deal for them.

Tell your Senator: Cosponsor the Democracy for All Amendment
On January 21, the 5th anniversary of the Citizens United decision, our allies in Congress reintroduced the Democracy for All constitutional amendment — to get big money out of elections and overturn decisions like Citizens United.

“Stop shoveling billions into the Pentagon while gutting domestic priorities.”
27 cents of every dollar we pay in federal income taxes goes to the Pentagon. At the same time, Congress is slashing funding for education, diplomacy, and social security. Imbalanced spending has consequences: cuts in programs that reduce income inequality as well as missed opportunities to fight real 21st century threats like climate change.

Revoke the veterinary license of Kristen Lindsey

When Veterinarian Kristen Lindsey killed a cat, it wasn’t in the clinic where she worked or out of mercy. She did it as sport and then bragged about it on Facebook.

When Kristen Lindsey saw a cat on her property she did not act as we would expect a veterinarian to. She did not try to find out who the cat belonged to or take it to a shelter. Instead, Kristen Lindsey shot the animal in the head with a bow and arrow, posed with the body in a picture, posted it on Facebook, and wrote: “My first bow kill lol. The only good feral tomcat is one with an arrow through its head. Vet of the year award…gladly accepted!”

Media reports say the cat was likely not feral, but a tabby named Tiger that belonged to a neighbor.

    don’t repeal the estate tax.
If Senate and House Republicans have their way, they will eliminate the estate tax, which affects only the wealthiest 0.2% of taxpayers. Repealing the estate tax would hurt our economy and be fundamentally unfair. Senate Democrats: Stand with us—and stay united against the repeal.

Don’t Let Dirty Coal Companies Rip Off American Taxpayers

For decades, coal companies operating on public lands in the Powder River Basin area of Wyoming and Montana have developed a complex shell network to sell a significant chunk of the coal they mine to themselves. By doing this, they evade federal and state royalty payments to the tune of billions of dollars. In fact, five companies have set up a network of over 550 affiliates that allow them to sell coal at drastically reduced rates and reap the rewards of lower royalty payments — leaving taxpayers missing out on billions of dollars in lost revenue over the past three decades.;jsessionid=AA888284A3BB114F6B8F94B56B1CCFBC.app326b?cmd=display&page=UserAction&id=2433&autologin=true

Tell President Obama: Protect Country of Origin Food Labels

    Image: Meat product of ?

Consumer and farm advocates fought for more than a decade to get country of origin labels (COOL) for our food. Although we can now see where most of our meat, fruit and vegetables come from, meatpacking and processing companies keep trying to eliminate this labeling.

We deserve to know where our food comes from, and we need President Obama to protect mandatory country of origin labeling so that U.S. consumers have clear information about what they’re buying.

Tell President Obama to stand up for these popular, common-sense labels by refusing to sign any legislation that would undermine, weaken or eliminate them.;jsessionid=4A699B1E54ABC9A69B8AD6F9900C00A6.app334a?pagename=homepage&page=UserAction&id=2053&autologin=true
